hi im trying to install my 8281 DB (Ich4) AC’97 sound card i have the drivers for it but an missing a .cat file wich is wdma_int.cat and it is on the Intel Ich4 Audio driver disk wich i dont have could some one plz let me know were i can find this file plz as i need it coz a computer without sound when ur 17 is pretty boering

Try http://www.driverguide.com[/url%5D as well. Usually with AC97 audio, the drivers are included with the mainboard. Can you download them from the manufacturer’s website?

3 thingys firstly i didnt know that and appologise secoundly i have my sound working using the advance ac97 driver, now thirdly an ew problem arose im not sure if it is to do with the sound or not but it start shortly after the sound started working i can no longer use my webcams it seems to think they are being used by another programme all the time :S wierd lol i have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling still no luck this rate i will be going to linux lol

now i feel dumb i thought i had the sound working and i do slightly i can play musik but i vant hear musik when i play games. so i went into the direct x diag and it cant find the sound device how strange as you can tell im no good on computers lol

You would probably be better off searching through these forums for sound related issues rather than reporting them one by one as you come across them – there are several things that this could be and it’s likely most have been covered here.

If you really don’t know that much about the basics of Windows 98, it could be worth picking up a copy of Windows 98 for Dummies – Amazon.co.uk are selling used copies for as little as 55p.

PS: using your shift key occasionally would make your posts a lot easier to read.

Ok mate, I have now got everything workin sound wise i had a little play around and turned of the direct x acceleration for the sound card and now it works perfect
