    MS Access 2007
    Outlook 2007
I have an access database from which I would like to send a mail out to recipients to have them check a specific records details.
In Access I have all but completed the procedure which uses the /cmd switch to pass known variable on opening the database.

The difficulty now comes when sending the shortcut to the recipient in form of e-mail via outlook.

the shortcut format is same as a shortcut link with the relevant /cmd switch and variable:
    “C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12MSACCESS.EXE” “S:DatabasesFileListing.accdb” /cmd “abc123”

But when I try and use that in outlook I don’t get the formatting nor hyperlink retained correctly.

Any pointers as to best way to go about this please?
    Thanks
    Alan

I take it this is a follow up to your December thread http://lounge.windowssecrets.com/index.php?showtopic=768813&view=findpost&p=806061 in the Access forum. Are you using Automation in Access to generate the email? If so, you may need to specify that the email type be HTML or RTF and not the basic text that is the default in such cases.

But when I try and use that in outlook I don’t get the formatting nor hyperlink retained correctly.

Can you explain exactly how you build the email .Body, or show the applicable code snippet?

You’ll at least have to format it into a valid HTM file link, such as:

Further to Wendell’s comments, you can set the email .Body property as HTML and add text with something like:

      Code:
      With objMessage
      .BodyFormat = olFormatHTML
.HTMLBody = "The body of this message will appear in HTML."

Thanks Guys. Yes it’s a follow up on the December post which works brilliantly, but unfortunately the timing has been somewhat delayed owing to the UK VAT changes and incumbent work on that.
Thanks for the pointers and I’ll be throwing a bit of time at it this weekend but today is upgrade day and need to give time over to that.
Best laid plans of mice and men and all that.

Hmmm, not sure about that format though John:

as it is the intention to use the link same as a shortcut on the desktop and it’s not a file per se.

Just tried that in HTML formattted mail and the link appears but no go when selected.
      Cheers
