Hi! It is my first post..:) My HP computer PC i7 suddenly has stopped playing some videos in IE11. For example, when viewing the site http://www.JewelleryMaker.com , the videos plays, sound is audible, but the visual part of the video is not showing. It happened after I installed and run the application Drivers Update. I must add that I went to a number of sites like YouTube and found that the videos on these sites play with no problem, but on one other site – Knitting…, it was the same problem. There I discovered, that when I click ‘Full Screen’, I can see image, but it is not convenient to me when I want to buy on the site and work on other things on the desktop at the same time. I tried all what anybody advised on internet – nothing helped. I tried go back to the old driver for Video etc., but I could not find out how, I have not any list of drivers, old and new, I can see only the new one! Site owners don’t know what I can else do..

      Hi Nejlika,

Was one of the suggestions that you’d found on the Internet to use a restore point prior to installing Driver Update, click on Choose a different restore point, Show more restore points and then Scan for affected programs because your computer or the program will have created a restore point prior to installing any programs or drivers.

    • #1440372

Go Start and type system then click on System then on System Protection in the left pane.

Click on the System Restore button – Next – where you will be presented with a list of restore points.

There should be one associated with the video driver update, but if it isn’t listed then click on Show more restore points.

If it’s listed as the driver install then choose the restore point before that, then click on Scan for affected programs and it should list the video driver as being one of the affected items.

Click OK/Next and Windows will do the rest.

Another way to roll back the driver is in Device Manager/Display adapters.

This is accessed by going Start and type devmgmt.msc then press Enter.

Expand Display Adapter then right click on the graphics adapter and select Properties and under the Driver tab there will be a button to Roll back driver but this may not always be active and could be greyed out, so using the restore points is probably the better option.

I tried to do it 5 times. Every time I’ve got message that the error happened and it was impossible to reach file, possibly because of virus protection. It was said to disable antivirus app. I did it, but it did not helped. I COULD not restored system (using different dates). I am completely gutted because also my computer did not want install Adobe Reader and I can’t read some PDF! Using PDF Opener I can’t print these PDF texts, I do not know why! Just when I tried to install Adobe Reader, they wanted me to install that Drive Updater which made all that mess with video..:( 🙁

I think you want to get rid of that Driver Updater program.

AV programs can interfere with System Restore and rather than leave the computer vulnerable by disabling it, tap F8 as you switch the computer on and select Safe Mode then retry the restore points.

To access the same System Protection window in Safe Mode you will need to type system protection then press Enter or click on the top option.

AV programs are not loaded in any of the Safe Mode options.

Did you check Device Manager to see if you had the option to roll back the driver from there ?

Check from Show more restore points to see if you still have one prior to installing Driver Updater and that should resolve the graphics driver update as well, but primarily look for the one prior to the graphics driver update.

To revert to a normal boot from Safe Mode, just shut down as normal then reboot.

If you ever have problems installing anything normally then you can select the Safe Mode with Networking option via F8 on boot.

Where are you attempting to download Adobe Reader from as you don’t normally get a prompt to download those sort of programs.

When you’ve sorted the restore points, boot up again while tapping F8 and select Safe Mode with Networking and try the Reader download from http://www.adobe.com

There’s also an update for Adobe Flashplayer which you can do as well.

I am really desperate. I tried go to Safe mode, but to tape F8 does not do what it should. I ‘ve got the strange noise in computer and trembling desktop and after nothing happened. I have no idea WHEN I should press F8, but I tried many different occasions – when started, when shut down and etc., in the best fall nothing happened. And with my Explorer 11 it is worse and worse. Now not only I can’t see video on some of sites but when I try f.ex. buy something, on many sites I get ‘This Page can’t be displayed’ message. Many links on many sites do not open but I keep getting the same message and empty page. I could not install Adobe Reader, I could not restore computer to the date before I was so stupid to update drivers! And today I have got a new hub for better broadband and of course the HP printer became OFFLINE and I must use a cable to print! I tried to open the printer website to put in new settings from the new hub – but of course, ‘The Page Can’t be displayed’!! I am sick of all this. I am the old woman (79) and I am not able anymore to do complicated manipulations on computer hours and hours. I am gutted and desperate..

      nejlika,

Start tapping F8 repeatedly as soon as you see the splash screen on computer startup.

      Zig

    • #1443058

If tapping F8 as you switch on doesn’t work then you can get into Safe Mode by going Start – type msconfig then press Enter.

Click on Boot then the check box for Safe Mode and then the one for Network – Apply – OK – Restart

When it reboots, a Help page opens which you can read through if you want but can close in the normal way by clicking on the red X in the top right corner.

You are now in Safe Mode with Networking and to revert to a normal boot, go into msconfig again and uncheck the Safe Boot box and repeat the previous steps to restart.

Use my link for http://www.adobe.com to see if Adobe Reader and/or Flashplayer will install now.

If that fails, come back to the forum then go Start – type cmd.exe and then press Enter.

At the command prompt type chkdsk and press Enter.

When it has completed, right click in the text area of the command window, click on Select All then press Enter.

You can then paste its report into the reply box by right clicking and select Paste.

That vibration shouldn’t be happening and chkdsk will report on the state of the files and if it finds any bad sectors on the HDD.

Which version of IE did you have before updating to IE 11 ?

IE 11 doesn’t always play well with Win 7 or some sites may not have updated to accommodate it and reverting to/installing IE 10 can sometimes resolve any IE 11 induced problems, but let’s see what chkdsk has to report before going on to that and trying the restore point in Safe Mode.

Edit – Probably a bit late now but I had intended to add that before clicking on Install for either Adobe Reader or Flashplayer, uncheck any boxes that will bundle either Google Chrome or McAfee security.

Also, where were you trying to download Reader from as you wouldn’t normally get Driver Updater bundled from Adobe and it’s possible that you could have picked up an infection if it wasn’t the official Adobe.com site.

Thank you very much indeed, I will try tomorrow. But when you write about boot – I have not at all any moment when starting computer that Bios is accessible to go this way to the Safe Mode.. If I understood right, I must do this from Start when I am already in Windows, not before Windows starting (I thought it was then I should tap F8, but nothing happened then). OK, I will let you know if I succeeded.. I have IExplorer 11, but HOW I can go back to 10?? And my son who is electronic master of science (but in acoustics) said the same as you – it can be some malicious infection! I uninstalled this Driver Updater app., but it of course was already too late, it worked before very busy.. Greetings to all helpers!

    • #1443098

As soon as you switch on start tapping F8 at a rate of ~ 1 per second.

You’ll get the splash screen pop up and then a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen.

When that cursor moves down a line you can usually stop tapping F8 but it won’t hurt tapping it until the options appear on the screen and then you just use the Down cursor arrow to highlight your choice and press Enter, then wait for the computer to load the basic drivers to give you the mode you have selected.

Safe Mode with Networking is usually favourite as you can do most stuff in that mode as you can in a normal boot and once in, retry the restore points to one or two prior to the Driver Updater install but before clicking Next for it, click on Scan for affected programs to see what else the restore will affect.

To go back to IE 10 if that is the version you had before upgrading to 11, go Start (or press the Windows key) then type installed updates and click on View installed updates.

When they’ve loaded scroll down the page until you find Windows Internet Explorer 11 – you can either right click on it to select Uninstall or as the instructions at the top of the page instruct, click on it then select Uninstall from the top menu bar and wait for the computer to do it’s thing.

Prior to uninstalling IE 11, open IE then click on Tools (cog in top right) – click on Internet options and make an exact note of what is typed for your Home page.

Click on Advanced then on Reset and in the next window check all of the boxes.

After you have uninstalled IE 11 from Installed Updates and you are back to a near enough normal computer with IE open, click on Tools then on About Internet Explorer.

This will tell you which version you now have.

If it displays as IE 10 then good, but to prevent continued Windows updates for IE 11, uncheck the box for Install new versions automatically – OK

Next, go Start and type windows update and press Enter.

It will probably already have a Recommended update to install, which will be for IE 11.

Click on that and it will take you to the page where you can select which updates you want to install.

Check the box next to that and for the Bing Toolbar if it’s trying also to push that (don’t know anyone who has that) then right click on the IE 11 one and select Hide – you may have to repeat that for the Bing update if it’s there.

If they aren’t included now, you will get security updates for IE 10 if that is the version that it has reverted to and which you should accept.

When you are notified of Windows updates, ensure that the one for IE 11 hasn’t returned.

If it hasn’t reverted to IE 10 then you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/internet-explorer-10-details.aspx

If when you open IE 10 after you get its initial install page and it doesn’t display your original Home page when you click on the Home page icon (little house near the Tools cog), then click on Tools – Internet options and you can back space what is entered and type in what you made a note of for your preferred Home page.

When everything is back up and running, attempt to do what you were before with the PDFs etc. but never download any Adobe products from anywhere except http://www.adobe.com and then uncheck any boxes for additional bundled software such as for Google Chrome or McAfee, which are the only bundled items you are likely to get from the official Adobe site.

And I’ll await your next update.

Hi, I just finished try with the Safe Mode. I succeeded to start computer in the Safe Mode and tried to restore to the 13 February 2014. But Restore system kept to show me ONLY the date 2 days ago! I clicked on ‘Restore computer on the earlier time’ – but how much I clicked on it, NOTHING showed up! Worse, ‘System’ window became frozen every time I tried to click on something, looking for any possibility to get earlier date! Obviously I was not allowed to restore computer to time before the drivers have been installed.. I tried as well Device Manager and roll down drivers, but IT WAS NOT SUCH OPTION at all (in ordinary mode the option is grey). I had to give up restore and I tried to install Adobe Reader. It was AGAIN partly blocked installation by an unknown error!! This is all like in nightmare – nothing works, not any solution! Now only my hope is to go back to Explorer 10, but I still have not any Adobe Reader!

    • #1443121

When you first open the restore window and click on Choose a different restore point – Next – and then on Show more restore points – does it give you any more than the two ?

Your computer seems to be displaying symptoms of an infection as they tend to try to prevent remedial steps from being taken, such as restore points and downloads, but boot up into Safe Mode with Networking again and see if you can download the free version of SAS

If you are successful with that, click on the System Tools & Settings button below Scan your Computer then click on Uninstall Unwanted Programs.

Can you tell us if and what it lists ?

    • #1443124

Hi, Restore DID NOT give me any time point more than ONE, the 7 March 2014. I installed SAS in normal mode, it listed several programs (I don’t remember them, it was many I knew names of, like My Search or My Backup smth.,) and I clicked on every one of them but only one was uninstalled, it was Optimizer smth (forgot name) and rest of programs disappeared from the list when I clicked on Uninstall. Should I install SAS ONLY in Safe Mode?

    • #1443127

You can install SAS in Safe or normal mode but when an infection is suspected, it’s best to install and run it in Safe Mode.

With SAS started can you click on Uninstall Unwanted Programs again to see if the list is still clear ?

When you clicked on each one, did you also select Uninstall ?

If the list is now clear, click the Back and then Home buttons and then the button for Complete Scan then Scan your Computer.

This will take a while and could be for an hour or so, so be patient and let us know if it finds anything which you can then delete.

Boot back up into normal mode and try http://www.adobe.com again for the Reader download.

To stop the SAS banner popping up each time you boot up, go Start – type msconfig then press Enter.

Click on Startup then uncheck the box for SAS – Apply – OK then Restart.

If you ever decide to uninstall SAS, ensure that you go back into msconfig to re-check its box otherwise you can end up with orphaned files and that item will remain in msconfg/Startup.

I’ll wait to see if you have any questions but will have to shove off for a couple of hours or so although will check back later to see how you are getting on.

    • #1443128

In the Uninstall Unwanted Programs list box, not all programs may be unwanted and clicking Uninstall when any are highlighted will remove any that you would have preferred to keep, which is why I asked you to list them rather than Uninstalling them.

    • #1443133

I already installed SAS but NOT in Safe Mode, should I uninstall it and install again in SM? I clicked ‘Uninstall’ on EACH program from the list. It was not there programs which I wanted to keep.
Anyway when I went Back and clicked again on Uninstall Unwanted programs in SAS, I have got again 2 the same, PC Utilities Pro – Optimizer Pro, despite it looked like it was uninstalled before, and Search Project. Again when I clicked on them to uninstall, they only disappeared from the list. Then I used my old program Uninstaller pro 8 and it forced uninstalled that Search Project. And later SAS showed that ‘There is not unwanted programs in your computer’. But when I looked again on my Uninstaller it was still this Optimizer on the list, which should be uninstalled by SAS. Then I again forced uninstalled it by my Uninstaller (very good Rumanian program which helped me before many times to get rid some stubborn malicious apps. But they sometimes are so hidden, that they do not come on the list of installed programs in computer!) Then I scanned computer again with SAS and it showed me only low threat cookies which tracking something.

    • #1443160

There’s no need to reinstall SAS but it looks like you could be getting somewhere if SAS only found cookies.

Was this scan with the Complete Scan button ticked ?

Have a read through Option 1 in http://forums.anvisoft.com/viewtopic-55-5393-0.html to see if there any remnants of PC Utilities Pro.

I don’t know what that Anvi Smart Defender program linked in the article does, so don’t install that.

I’ve never heard of Search Project or have been able to find anything about it on Google, but there are many derivatives of similar malicious add-ons.

Open IE – click on Tools – Manage add-ons – use the dropdown to select All add-ons and check to see if anything like that is listed and then click on Search Providers.

You should just have Bing and/or Google listed there – let us know if anything else is listed and as Default.

Since the SAS scan, have you tried to install Adobe Reader yet ?

    • #1443289

Hi, Thanks for your advices! I think I clicked for Scan your computer, but I noticed now that it was Quick Scan.. I will do now Complete scan. On add-ons was nothing suspect to me, and on Search Providers was 3 positions about My Web Search – I removed all 3, I don’t know if I did well.. was not Google or Bing but Yahoo and Ask.com both Not Available, Amazon UK Search suggestions – enabled, eBay and Wikipedia – disabled (why?), 2 AVG search (I have installed AVG virus etc. protection) And Conduit Search (What is it?) enabled and default! Yes, I proved now to install Adobe. It running to 73% and after stops, there is an error again – Error 1406.Could not write value NoExplorer to key SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerBrowser Helper Objects{18DF081C-E8AD-4283-A596-FA578C2EBDC3}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. This is the same message all the time. I have not yet tries to go down to Explorer 10.
During the scan by SAS my AVG detected thread ‘AdwareGeneric5.AOJM’ and ask me if to remove it – I didn’t know what to do! Infection came NOW, while scan is running. I decided to remove it and AVG did it.

    • #1443309

Follow the steps in http://malwaretips.com/blogs/conduit-search-removal/ to get rid of Conduit Search and after you have reset IE to defaults, it should get rid of Yahoo and Ask.com but if you use Yahoo as your Search Provider, then you will have to reinstate that for your Home page.

As an added measure after you have followed those steps, download AdwCleaner (use the @BleepingComputer download button in the article).

You may get a Windows alert that it isn’t safe after clicking on Run, but click on Actions – More Options – Run anyway.

Click on Scan and when it has completed, click on Report and copy & paste that into the Reply box if you are unsure of what it has found to delete.

It can find items that you may want to keep, but generally, you can close that window and click on Clean.

When you have picked up things like Conduit, it can leave a back door open to other malevolence and could be why that AdwareGeneric5 tried to chance its luck, but I’m not that knowledgeable on related malicious Toolbars of which that could have been one.

This http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-1402-error-1406-acrobat.html#main_Vista_and_Win_7 deals with the Error 1046

See if uninstalling the older version(s) first and a reinstall resolves that, but if you need to go onto the Advanced steps and you don’t feel confident in following those, then perhaps your son could do those for you.

If we can get rid of those Toolbars and get IE to how it should be and Reader will install, then you can go back to Post#11 and follow those steps on how to revert/install IE 10 if the YT videos still won’t play in IE 11.

    • #1443449

I was not able to download the AdwCleaner. When I clicked on Actions, was not any other option as Delete! On Downloads was the program on the list, but was only option to delete, not any to Run the installation! I tried many times, it was not possible to run installation.. Besides, it was very difficult to find proper Download button for just this program because on the site was MANY other programs recommended to download and it was very confusing to find the right button of Download just the AdwCleaner. So I have not tried to download again Adobe Reader, it looks very complicated to me..
Additional problem is that my printer does not want to print at all. I succeeded to write in new settings after the router change and now all settings are very correct, printer is Ready, but when I click to Print, printer at once becoming Offline again! The mark ‘Use printer Offline’ coming itself all the time despite I change hundreds times to Online. In this way I can’t print your advices to follow them while making what you suggest.. I could use the cable, but I have it too short..
The more I trying to do something, it becoming only worse and worse. now something installed an Home page instead Google which I always had and how many times I tried to change back to Google, it DOES NOT HELP, I still have something other which even do not know what! The black bar with many options like Web, Images, Videos, News, More and on the end – results by Bing. Bing was not on the list of my ad-ons. All the time coming there different advertising, very aggressive. I don’t know now how to get rid of this..

    • #1443454

In the Adwcleaner page, there are two download buttons, one for Download Now @BleepingComputer and below that, Visit Author’s Site.

I normally use the @BleepingComputer button.

After you have clicked on that, don’t click on anymore Download buttons, just wait for the download to start or click on the click here link if it doesn’t start, then select Run.

When you click on Action, in the bottom left corner of the next window is More options and clicking on that will give you a window which includes Run anyway.

I was hoping to add some snips which would illustrate this, but the forum seems to be having some problem in uploading the .jpegs.

Lower down the first AdwCleaner page is a link for Junkware Removal Tool which is also worth running and is often linked in tutorials for removing malicious add-ons/Toolabars and includes for My Websearch which you’ve also listed as having on your computer.

Give AdwCleaner another try and then download Junkware Removal Tool after AdwCleaner has done its thing.

The only download button you should use for that is Download Now @Author’s Site.

Follow the prompts in the black windows but close down any open applications first as it warns.

I’m shooting off for a little while but will check back later.

      Edit

See if it helps with the Google redirects by downloading and running those programs in Safe Mode with Networking or go Start – All Programs – Accessories – System Tools then click on Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

When IE opens, click on the Home page icon which will give you the normal search page.

I have opened the AdwCleaner, only Scan was normal, rest was not active (grey), I clicked on Scan – and – nothing has happened. I was waiting but indicator of Scan progress [Generic Search in progress..] showed NOTHING, not any progress. Was grey. And option Scan became grey as well. ‘Results’ options were normal, but it was not any results, I think the scan was not running.. What to do now?? Maybe I’ll try now this Junkware Removal Tool.. but when I clicked on it, I have got a page called MANOLITH with many links, only one was about a virus impact and other about body hair removal and alike! It was anyway more listed links which had been about malicious software Removal Tools, but I have no idea which I should choose!
Aaa, now came results on the AdwCleaner, but it was impossible to copy them! I must write one by one myself: Under Services:
Optimizer pro, Search Project, iSafeKmi, iSafeNetFilter, iSafe Service, Update FindRight, Util FindRight, Websteroids. I do not see any I would like to keep..
Next it was Folders: C:Program Data: AVG Secure Search and Security Toolbar, Pareto Logic, SpeedyPC Software, Websteroids, and C:Program Files, all (x86): AVG Secure Search, Conduit, FindRight, FunWebProducts and iSafe. Files: C:WindowsSystem32roboot64.exe, Tasksparetologic registration3, Tasksparetologic update version3.job, System32Tasksparetologic update version3; next was the path very long with C:ProgramData…..ProgramInstallConverter bundle uninstaller… and it was SO MANY keys in Registry that I am not able to write all of them! But all of them were connected to the programs and other listed by me before. I could copy all from Report, but it is TERRIBLY much, can I paste it here?? I anyway copied all this Report to my file, you decide what I am to do with it!

    • #1443514

I’m not sure about iSafe http://www.file.net/process/isafe.exe.html

Do you have any of the anti virus programs listed in that article – otherwise you can hit the Clean button on those and may have to reinstall the affected AV program if so.

It looks like you may have been duped into installing a couple of tune up programs such as ParetoLogic and Speedy PC Software of which both may be listed in Programs and Features.

After the computer has rebooted, see if you still get the redirects, but run Junkware Removal Tool as a belt and braces as I didn’t see My Websearch listed among those.

What did the full scan with SAS report ?

    • #1443519

Hi, I do not understand your LAST question.. Everything in Report I copied HERE, I did not yet anything about it. Should I say to the AdwCleaner to delete all this or only iSafe? I think that most of the listed programs are not good, f.ex. all this MyWebSearch (yes, it is on the list..), Conduite, Optimizer, ParetoLogic and Speedy PC Software, and many others .. should I leave them or clean away? What do I do with all those keys in Registry? Clean all or leave? Please, I apologize that I give you so much work, but you are the only person in whole the world to help me! By the way – I tried to click ‘Clean’ on some elements, but nothing had happened..

    • #1443536

You said earlier that you were going to run SAS on a Complete Scan as I’d suggested when you realized that you had just run it on a Quick Scan, so I was just wondering what it had found at the end of its scan.

iSafe can be a legitimate file belonging to one of the AV programs listed in that article, so I was asking if you have either of those programs installed.

Does AdwCleaner give you an option to uncheck any boxes for some of what it has found ?

The Registry keys belong to those Toolbars it has found need to be deleted as part of the cleaning process.

When you clicked on Clean, what did the next Report give for those that weren’t affected – it would have said which files/keys it had deleted, but you don’t have to list all of them – just what you can remember if you no longer have the report, or you could run AdwCleaner again.

    • #1443537

The AdwCleaner is ‘frozen’ and do nothing I click on, even does not want to shut down. I must tomorrow make scan again and maybe the program will clean all this mess.. Thank you, and good night!

    • #1443540

Just do a power shut down and run Junkware Removal Tool tomorrow in Safe Mode with Networking and then you could try AdwCleaner again.

Just a thought, does the Uninstall button work ?

You haven’t said what SAS had found on its Complete Scan, but that can wait until tomorrow as I’m also going and also goodnight.

    • #1443576

Hi, I thought you could see on the Report that the SAS was not found by AdwCleaner. SAS is left and works. I have not used Uninstall button, only Clean button, it was deleted all anyway. It was not really any programs to uninstall, looked like, only Services, Folders, Files and Register keys!
I cleaned ALL from the lists, but after the second scan was left some path with Google Chrome which I had to Clean again by AdwCleaner as well. From the Report – it was all deleted, but some things have been restored or disinfected:
Shortcut Disinfected : C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsInstallConverter bundle uninstallerInstallConverter bundle uninstaller.lnk
Setting Restored : HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerAboutURls [Tabs]
Setting Restored : HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSearchUrl [Default]
      After the second cleaning:
      Folder Deleted : C:UsersAnnaAppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefaultExtensionsjmfkcklnlgedgbglfkkgedjfmejoahla
I discovered that the home page I’ve got unwanted it was Bing, and I’ve got the message from Explorer that the Bing as the Search Provider will be restored. But I still do not see it on add-ons list and I still have got back my Google-Sweden homepage (I am Swedish-Polish).
The video on the JM website still does not show the image! It must be absolute the fault of that drivers updating because I have had IExplorer 11 for a long time before the 13th February and it was never any issue with video! Last time the video disappeared it was when I have had IExplorer 9 and came again after I installed IExplorer 10.. So it is not IExplorer 11 fault.
Bing Bar is now on the list of programs on Control Panel. Explorer obviously does not want it to be uninstall! How to prevent it to take over again my home page?
As I wrote before, I could not run the Junkware Removal Tool because when I clicked on it, I’ve got the page there was not any download only the list of links of different Removals, I have no idea what I could run!
And printer stopped to print as wireless, I must have connected it by a cable..

    • #1443601

Bing will be listed in Manage add-ons/Search Providers and is IE’s default search engine but can be disabled and moved down when you click on it.

If it’s the only search provider listed, then it won’t but bottom left in the Search Providers window, is a link for Find more search providers and clicking on any of those will give you the option to Add and that will take effect next time IE is reopened.

I’m not sure what you mean by the Bing Bar, but the Bing Toolbar is a Windows update and can be uninstalled from Installed Updates by clicking on it and then click on Uninstall in the top menu bar, or right click on it then select Uninstall and next time you get any Windows Updates, look for it before downloading/installing, check its box, right click on it then select Hide.

To install/run Junkware Removal Tool from the AdwCleaner page, click on its name as that is an active link then in the next page, click on Download Now @Author’s Site and that will start the download.

SAS wouldn’t have been found by AdwCleaner as it’s a genuine program.

When you run SAS in either Quick or Complete Scan, it will tell you what it finds in its window and a Complete Scan will find more if there is more to be found than with just the Quick Scan and I think you should still run the Complete Scan after JRT.

Although I’m using IE 10, can you copy a link for the JM site and I’ll see what it does for me, or do you have to register before you can view the videos ?

Are you still getting the redirects and adverts when you try to browse to a website ?

Malware can disrupt drivers, but if the printer is set up correctly then you may have to go to the printer support site and download its drivers again.

    • #1443652

Hi, thank you, I had a strange disfunction of my keyboard, but after I shut down computer, they installed 9 updates and I started computer again, keyboard miraculously started to work..
Bing does not come again as a start page, I have Google.se again.
Bing Bar there is EXACT name from Control Panel, Programs to uninstall.
Here you have copy of my Search Providers:

      Name Amazon (UK) Search Suggestions
      Status
      Listing order 1
      Search suggestions Enabled
      Top result Not Available

      Name eBay
      Status
      Listing order 2
      Search suggestions Disabled
      Top result Not Available

      Name AVG Secure Search
      Status Default
      Listing order 3
      Search suggestions Enabled
      Top result Not Available

Name FLV Runner Customized Web Search
      Status
      Listing order 4
      Search suggestions Not Available
      Top result Not Available

When I clicked on ‘Find more Search Providers I have got a website with many download, but what for I should have more of them?

Link to JM site: http://www.jewellerymaker.com/en-gb/ . I am not sure if you must be registered, I guess maybe not, if you do not see video (on the front page is the small windows with image without sound, click on it and you get the next page with large video and sound). This is what I am doing as a hobby and try to sell in a friend’s shop. I have nothing in the small window for video on the front page and nothing on the next but sound. I had always this video working well while having a longer time IExplorer 11, and suddenly disappeared after Drivers Updater scan and drivers installation [13 February], so it is clear to me that those drivers made it. But try if you see the video. Everybody of jewellery makers does but me! Do you want see my jewellery, go to Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AnnasOrganicJewellery?skip_nax_wizard=true and Like my site, please! All video on my Facebook working perfect!
Now I try again to download Junkvare R.T. and this time I have got quite differently page, but I have difficult to choose which Download button was the right one, it was plenty of other programs hidden among..

    • #1443701

That’s good, but there is a difference between the add-ons list and Search Providers – can you be more specific where what is ?

What is listed as the default search provider and what is in Manage add-ons.

You can use the dropdown to select All add-ons.

It’s good that JRT has gotten rid of AVG Secure Search and FLV, the latter is part of the Conduit family.

If Amazon and ebay are just in Manage add-ons then resetting IE to defaults should get rid of those and reinstate Bing as IE’s default search provider.

This is not to be confused with the Bing Toolbar that can be uninstalled from Installed Updates or in Programs and Features.

From that list of other search providers, you could add Google and set that as Default and move it up to position 1 and changing the status of Bing and moving that down to 2.

You would need to restart IE for Google to be shown in Search Providers to do that and then check the box to Prevent programs from suggesting changes etc.

I was able to view the silent video in the small window and then the full size one in the next with IE 10 but will decline the offer to go to FB 🙂

I’m not sure if this will improve things before downloading your graphics drivers from your computer support site, but try it anyway.

In IE go Tools – Internet options and under the Advanced tab check the box for the first item which should be for Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.

Click Apply then OK – close any windows and reboot then try the JM video again.

I don’t know what that smth is that is being reported as corrupt.

    • #1443899

Search Providers are under the title Add-on Types and it leads to the list with Name, Status and Listing Order etc.. I am afraid if I put Bing Bar on the list I will again get Bing as my start page! I have seen the list of All Add-ons – there are many, from Adobe System, from HP, from Microsoft (there are Bing Bar and Bing Bar Helper among other, BOTH disabled but not very down), Skype, Yahoo and others. Now I changed to Use Software… and will reboot.

    • #1443901

‘In IE go Tools – Internet options and under the Advanced tab check the box for the first item which should be for Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.’ I did it and guess what! VIDEO IS WORKING!!!!!!!!!! HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Later I will start the thread about HP printer which does not want to print wireless. I could hug you if I could!!!!!!!!

    • #1443939

      That’s great news.

Anything that is listed in the Search Provider list that you don’t want can be removed by clicking on it and then on the Remove button.

To get rid of any unnecessary add-ons, go Tools – Internet options – Advanced – Reset and check all of the boxes then reboot.

You will need to re-enter your preferred Home page and check that box again for Use software rendering etc. and if you are just left with IE’s default Bing search provider, then you can use the link for find more search providers and add whatever you want and after restarting IE, check the box for Prevent programs from suggesting changes etc.

As it would appear that you are now infection/PuP free, go Start and type system then click on System – System Protection – Configure then hit the Delete button.

This will delete the restore points that will contain those infections/PuPs.

When that’s done, click OK and then Create and give it a name, something like Post PuPs and that will give you a clean restore point.

While you are getting around to creating a new thread for the printer, with it wired to the computer go to http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support.html then click on Drivers & Downloads and either enter your printer model or use the auto detect and follow any prompts/links for the drivers.

I’m unable to run through its procedure as I don’t know a valid HP printer model.

If you want to check that you have the correct video driver then with the printer disconnected from the computer, go back to HP Support and do the same.

    • #1443954

Hi, I want add else MORE happy news! Printed started print without cable, but I do not know yet if it will want to print from the laptop (prints from PC) because the message after drivers and printer reinstallation was:
      Installation with cable connection
Printer rediscovery problems detected. Your PC may not be able to track online status changes of your printer.

And – I SUCCEEDED TO INSTALL ADOBE READER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you again for all your help, you are an angel and computers genius! By the way I also made the new restore point as you said to me. Now I go to bed! Night.

    • #1443960

The printer picks up the WiFi signal from the router so it may be okay, but you can use the HP Troubleshoot option if you have any problems.

There are two more Adobe security updates that have just been released which you should also install and they are for Flashplayer and Shockwave and I’m off to bed as well – ‘night.
