The folks here who do PR and stuff to attract visitors are using a blue horse as a symbol of Lexington being the “Horse Capital” of the world. Of course, that claim is disputed by other locales, but nonetheless they’ using it, even on road signs when you enter the county.

I think it as good as any other tourist campaign I have seen. Certainly one that catches the imagination, keeping on the lookout for the ‘legendary’ blue horse.

It seems OK (if a bit blue); the only thing that looks slightly disturbing is its head! If you just take it in isolation, it looks a lot like that of a crocodile…

I understand why the officials chose the “blue horse” after reading the additional information on the website you linked to. I think it is a catchy idea and something the state of Kentucky can probably expound on as the years go by. That’s my

To John: The horse’s head doesn’t much look like a crocodile to me. But I reckon it is all in the “eye of the beholder”.

That would have been a great picture of a thoroughbred, IF they used the REAL coloration.
Reminds me of a PR thing they had here on the Cape a few years back, where they had a contest to have the best painted whale decorations.
The gawd awful ideas that came of that that were like someone’s idea of hell.

Reminds me of a PR thing they had here on the Cape a few years back, where they had a contest to have the best painted whale decorations.

Here in Seattle, the locales have been using “Pigs” for the local “artist” to paint.

Beauty and representation is in the eye of the beholder and in this case the artists!

Yeah. I’m working on the suggested symbol for the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce being a purple dolphin with yellow polka dots.
Just like in nature!
