Update your Windows 8.1 Update — you’re missing KB 2934018
If you installed Windows 8.1 Update from the MSDN bits (or the torrent version) that circulated last week, you didn’t get the latest version.

Microsoft removes Windows 8.1 Update from WSUS servers
If you get your Windows updates through Windows Update directly, this announcement doesn’t affect you.
But if you get your Windows updates through a corporate distribution center – a WSUS update server – then you’re going to have to wait to get Windows 8.1 Update.
Seems that the folks distributing Windows 8.1 Update have a snarly bug that goes like this: If you install Windows 8.1 Update, you suddenly won’t be able to use WSUS to look for more patches.
The details are a little more complicated than that, but suffice it to say that if your admin has WSUS set to its defaults, installing Windows 8.1 Update zaps the connection to the WSUS server.
Accordingly, Microsoft has pulled Windows 8.1 Update from the chute that feeds WSUS update servers.
(Apologies for the conflicting use of the term “update” but it ain’t my fault!)

Microsoft sorta confirms that Windows 8 users will continue to get updates
As I mentioned in the comments, it isn’t clear if Windows 8 customers will continue to get patches after April 8.
Windows 8.1 customers MUST upgrade to Windows 8.1 Upgrade, in order to get patches.
In short, if you have Windows 8, and haven’t yet gone to Windows 8.1, it might be a good idea to wait a bit on installing 8.1, until the picture’s clearer.
Mary Jo Foley appears to confirm this weird situation, but cautions that “I have a question into Microsoft’s Windows team to triple check that this is the case.”
