Better and safer file sharing in OneDrive
ONEDRIVE
By Peter Deegan
I often use OneDrive to share photos, videos, and files from a trip or event with others who were there — or those who wish they had been!
OneDrive has many options for people to edit, caption, and comment on photos and to play videos directly from their browser.
Sharing photos, videos, and other files via cloud storage is a lot easier than using email, instant messaging, or the old “sneakernet” with a USB drive (quelle horreur!).

Edge Workspaces for work and play
ISSUE 21.06 • 2024-02-05 By Mary Branscombe
Given how often we all share links to webpages, it’s past time for some tools to manage that better. Workspaces is Microsoft’s latest attempt to share and organize Web links with a group of friends or colleagues.

You can share notebooks with other people and — as long as they’re stored somewhere they can connect to — they can see and update the information in OneNote. The same goes for your own multiple Microsoft accounts, such as work and personal; you can get access to your notes from both.
But there are a few quirks to the way sharing works in OneNote that can trip you up if you’re not clear about how it works. There are also some long-standing frustrations and limitations that we’re still waiting to see fixed.

By Lance Whitney
Just because you need to edit and share documents with someone who uses Google Docs doesn’t mean you have to renounce Word. It’s easy to work in both worlds. Here’s how.
You’ve always used Microsoft Word to create and edit your documents. Over the years, you’ve become comfortable with its many tools, capabilities, and peccadillos. But now you need to collaborate with others who rely on Google’s productivity apps.
Does that mean you have to adopt Google Docs as your default word processor? Not at all!

Create an MS Family to share your computing resources
WINDOWS 10
By Lance Whitney
Setting up a Microsoft Family lets you easily give others access to your Windows computer, Office 365 subscription, and shared Outlook calendar.
We tend to be very protective of our computers. We’re often reluctant to let others use our personal machines because, well, we each have things we want to keep private. But Microsoft and Windows give you an option have it both ways: privacy and sharing.
