  A whole bunch of updates in Computerworld Woody on Windows

  Just a reminder, in case it isn’t patently obvious: We’re still on MS-DEFCON 2. There’s absolutely no reason to install any of this month’s patches. Wait and see what mayhem results.

  Martin Brinkmann at ghacks.net has his usual full list of patches. His summary:

  • Windows 7: 12 vulnerabilities of which 12 are rated important
  • Windows 8.1: 11 vulnerabilities of which 11 are rated important
  • Windows 10 version 1607: 12 vulnerabilities of which 12 are rated important
  • Windows 10 version 1703: 12 vulnerabilities of which 12 are rated important
  • Windows 10 version 1709: 9 vulnerabilities of which 9 are rated important

  Note the absence of “critical” patches. Always a good reason to avoid patching. As if you needed one.

  The Win10 version site is now fully functional, and I see:

  • Win10 1709 KB 4048955 Build 16299.64
  • Win10 1703 KB 4048954 Build 15063.726 (and 15063.728?)
  • Win10 1607 KB 4048953 Build 14393.1884 – there’s also an entry for KB4051033 , Build 14393.1913, but there’s no KB article, and no indication what it’s for.
  • Win10 1511 Enterprise and Education only (not Pro, not Home; see below) KB 4048952 Build 10586.1232
  • Win10 1507 LTSC only KB 4048956 Build 10240.17673
  • Win 8.1 KB 4048958 2017-11 Monthly Rollup
  • Win 7 KB 4048957 2017-11 Monthly Rollup

  Yes, that means Microsoft is actively supporting seven different versions of Windows – five of them as a Service.

  November 2017 Office Updates are available: article 4051890 It’s a massive list – MS says there’s 23 security patches and 43 non-security patches to Office 2010, 2013, 2016, and various server products.
