New merged table bug appears, this time with September’s Word patch KB 4011039
There’s a report on the Technet site that describes a bug displaying text in merged cells, after this month’s Word 2016 KB 4011039 is applied.
It looks a whole lot like the bug in last month’s KB 3213656, which was also a Word non-security patch. I talked about it in Computerworld a couple of weeks ago.
Microsoft hasn’t acknowledged the bug in either KB article.
As best I can tell, the bug also doesn’t appear on the master Office bug list. Looks like it’s skated completely under the radar.
Only solution I’ve seen is to uninstall the buggy patch.

Word and Outlook table bug found in this month’s Word 2016 patch KB 3213656
Merged cells don’t work correctly after applying the patch. The only fix found so far is to uninstall KB 3213656.
Let’s hear it for Automatic Update.
