December 2014 IE patch KB 3008923 is back
I’m seeing reports all over that the highly problematic KB 3008923 is back. I wrote about the continuing problems in January 2015.
It’s the patch behind MS14-080. Back on Feb. 11, 2015, Microsoft reported this issue:
We are aware of some reports of functional issues on sites that use nested modal dialog boxes on Internet Explorer 11 that occur after you install this security update.
To resolve this issue, install update 3025390. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
3025390 Some web application modal dialog boxes don’t work correctly in Internet Explorer 11 after you install update 3008923It appears as checked, important on machines that are, ahem, lucky enough to see it.

What a mess.

I just had an independently reported crash, from PB:
I wanted to mention that I work for a small company and starting yesterday everyone in the office started getting IE failure messages “Internet Explorer has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly……. Close Program” I have found that be removing the new update KB3008923 has resolved the problem on all computers.
Thanks, PB
