Google adds placeholders to Google Drive, but only in beta for paying G Suite customers

OneDrive’s “smart files” placeholder capability disappeared 26 months ago. We’re assured they’re returning some day.

Google just announced a beta of their analogous placeholder capability, and Dropbox also has it in beta.
