Win10’s new “Download and install now” option — is it for version changes only, or will we get it for cumulative updates?
When Microsoft releases Win10 version 1903 later this month, we’re promised a new capability called “Download and install now” that will finally — finally! — give all Win10 customers the ability to stall updating. If it works as expected, it’ll be the best new feature to arrive in Windows 10 ever.
That’s not hyperbole. Just a straight-up fact. Forget the 3D Viewer and Hololens and Xbox console. “Download and install now” has the potential to improve Win10 for everybody.
Right now, there’s a lot of confusion about “Download and install now.” The Microsoft announcement says it’s for version changes — “feature updates.” But the only working example we’ve seen was for a cumulative update. Big difference.
Details in Computerworld Woody on Windows.

The new “Download and install now” link appears in Win10 version 1903
I’ll have more details about this shortly, but apparently last night Windows Update in Win10 version 1903 sprouted the link that we’ve been long anticipating.
Leopeva64, posting on Reddit, has a screenshot – this one from Win10 1903 Home — not Pro, mind you, but Home:
This is big news. Let’s see how the feature appears — there are reports already that the same kind of link is in version 1803 and 1809, as promised.
Absolutely no question that this is the most important feature improvement in Win10 Home since Win10 was released. (It’s also nice for Win10 Pro.)
More soon.

What happened to the second monthly “C Week” cumulative updates?
As of very early Wednesday morning, I don’t see any of the usual second monthly cumulative updates. For all versions of win10 except 1809, we’ve had “optional non-security” updates on the third Tuesday of the month – for quite some time. Win7 and 8.1 usually get a “Preview of Monthly Rollup.”
I’ve looked high and low and can’t find them.
Is somebody asleep at the wheel? Or is there some sort of surprise lurking?
I wonder if it has something to do with the promised 1809-blocking “Download and install now” feature giving Redmond fits?
