ASKWOODY ALERT!

MS-DEFCON 3: Install the March patches, but watch out for bugs

Woody Leonhard

By Woody Leonhard

We’ve had an interesting patching month, with a Patch Tuesday, a Patch Thursday, a buggy-as-usual “optional, non-security” patch (one of the last of those, I’m happy to say), and yet another fix for yet another bug introduced by one of the patches.

Even though there are continuing problems — the “disappearing desk icon” bug and another bug that causes Internet connections to drop — they’re reasonably well-known, and we can help you fix them, should you get bit.

It’s time to install the March Windows and Office patches. As usual, I have full step-by-step instructions in Computerworld. If you have questions, comments, fits of abject panic, or hit a problem that isn’t covered in the article, please drop by the AskWoody Lounge. Help, advice and virtual hot chocolate are free, of course.
