Will avoid the 2004 update forever if I have to. I’m a VR user and the 2004 update really s****s with the bluetooth funtionality of VR setups. Also it totally messes with XBOX wireless controllers. Really annoyed with M$ for not even bothering to address these issues. To me it’s as broken as it was when it first appeared. /salty

One that Ive been using since Windows 7 (and my version is still working with Windows 10) is ‘R-Drive Image’.

      https://www.drive-image.com/

30-day trial if you wanna try it. You can make a restore/backup disk (linux based) but you can also backup your entire boot drive while using it.

Simple request but why do M$ keep releasing these patches/updates when they are clearly not ready. Why should we be their beta testers? I just don’t trust them. If it wasn’t for VR support I would probably be using Linux by now.

It’s not just the one above that tried to install while searching for updates. There have been multiple updates all relating to windows 10 including ‘prep’ apps. Why is no one else seeing this?  I had to find online lists of bad updates and spent time removing them while turning off auto updating. This kind of behaviour makes me loathe m$. And they wonder why people want to go to alternatives.

Here’s a screen grab of an update I spotted trying to sneak onboard my system tonight (resolves issues in windows?  haha yeh right!). Proof enough that the slimey lot at m$ are well and truly at it again.

I know many Windows 7 gamers are migrating over to Linux because of Steams new (beta) Steam Play (https://itsfoss.com/steam-play-proton/) so I guess this is the push they need. People are sick of the bloated malware which is Windows. I’m on the verge of going myself.

Sorry Woody, its gone but can confirm it was the big blue (full screen message) about upgrading. I have just found Windows 10 downloading again and used GWX Control Panel to delete the files already downloaded. I knew something was up as my bandwidth was being choked. Nothing would download.
