All of our mail goes through our ISP’s SMTP server.

Yes, it is an Access ADP.

The table and view names are identical to SQL Server.

Only the procedures have a different name.

I use Cookie Cop version 2.

As it’s name implies, it also lets you block cookies, images, and entire sites if you want.

It was a free utility published in PC Magazine, however, I think that Ziff-Davis now charges for downloads.

    • in reply to: Indirect validation list range (Excel2000) #712373

      This might work:

While holding down the CTRL key, select all three lists.
While the lists are selected, choose Insert==>Name==>Define from the menus.
Create a name like ListFull and click the OK button.

Note: this combined name is refering to specific cells. I don’t think that this combined range definition will change if you change the range definition of any of the individual lists.

The motherboard/cpu combos that I’ve seen (with an Intel P4 processor) seem to cost more than $150.

    • in reply to: Dell Processor Upgrade #682935

Do you know whether this motherboard is an ATX form factor? If it is, shouldn’t I be able to put a new motherboard into my existing case?

    • in reply to: Dell Processor Upgrade #682733

I did that once before with suprisingly good results.

I checked a few places for prices, but it seems that when you start buying the case, motherboard, cpu, ram, and possibly a video card, you don’t end up spending that much less than buying a new computer.

I have no idea of the Motherboard.

It’s whatever was standard on this particular Dell model at the time I bought it. (December 1998)

The chipset is Intel 440BX AGPset.

My goal was just to make the machine faster.

The computer has 256 mb of RAM.

I believe that the maximum is 384 mb.

Both the Front and Back ends are Access (SP-3).

      The ADO Library is 2.1

      The ADOX library is 2.7

      MDAC version 2.7

When I used the error collection, I got the same error message as before.

I know that all of the ‘dt’ tables are linked because I manually created the links.

    • in reply to: Front-end/Back-end Links (Access 2000) #667761

Using Windows 2000 I am able to ‘map’ one of my partitions to as additional drive letter. For example, I can map my D drive as the P drive and have both of them appear in the Explorer window.

Access does not get confused when manually linking a table to this bogus drive. It thinks that the table exists on the P drive.

I’m not sure how the run-time would handle this since I don’t deal with run-time applications.

    • One of my clients has setup their Citrix so that each person logging in has a ‘user’ folder on the server. All of the front-end databases are then stored in each user’s folder.

A Visual Basic form is launched with a listing of the applications they have rights for.

When the user makes a choice, the ‘local’ front end is launced.

I wasn’t involved in this part of the project, so I’m not sure how they actually accomplished this.
