    • The first step in any troubleshooting is to clear the browser cache/cookies. (you need to clear ALL cookies)

*For Internet Explorer browser & MSN Butterfly: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Delete
*For Google Chrome: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Browsing Data
*For Firefox: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Now
*For Edge they are in settings (three dots>history>clear all settings)
      (other browsers are similar)

If clearing the cache doesn’t help answer these.

Are you accessing your mail via a web browser or email client? See the differences between them here
Are you having problems accessing other accounts on the same computer?
Does the same problem exist when you use a different browser?
Does the issue persist on other computers?

FYI 14279 was released March 4. Most changes in it are Cortana related.

Realtek has been “fixed” but the other three sound cards have not.

Via, Conextant, Creative. They missed being included in WU by one day according inside sources @MS

If you have not solved the problem

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here
If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

If you are using Blue screen view, who crashed, or a similar application, don’t. They are wrong at least as often as they are correct

I would use Team viewer (free) to connect and Sync Toy (by Microsoft) to sync the folders. Since Sync toy can sync in either direction it offers flexibility and since it only moves the files that are different makes it fast.

I use it for a 3 TB folder over a 10Mb connection with no problems.

How do you sync your Onedrive?
Are you having issue syncing your Onedrive to your computer or mobile devices?
What is the version or operating system of the device or computer you’re syncing with Onedrive?
Are you getting any error message? What are the recent changes made prior to the issue?

Does issue occurs on all your Onedrive files or just on a specific file?
Can you edit your file via Onedrive web?
What are the exact steps you did on how you’re trying to edit your files on 8.1 Onedrive? Is it via the Onedrive client or the modern Onedrive app?
Is your PC connected properly to internet and not on a metered network?
Could you confirm if the Onedrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash? To check, Go to Task Manager, ensure “Sky Drive Sync Engine Host” process is running.
On your Onedrive app, are there errors at the top of the screen or top right corner? (Top right corner error is a link that opens the “Progress” view page. )
Are there any icons on your Onedrive client on file Explorer that indicate errors (i.e., yellow triage, red x). If there’s an error icon, look for the error at the bottom of the file explorer window or right click on the Onedrive and select “View error” and opens the modern Onedrive app “Progress” view page

If the above doesn’t help then

      Restart your system
Confirm that your computer is able to access the internet and is not on a metered network.
Confirm that the Onedrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash. Go to Task Manager, ensure “Sky Drive Sync Engine Host” process is running.
When viewing through Onedrive app: Launch the Onedrive app and look for errors at the top of the screen or top right corner. Top right corner error is a link that opens the “Progress” view page.
When viewing through the Onedrive Desktop (File explorer view): Click on the Onedrive node and look for any icons that indicate errors (i.e., yellow triage, red x). If there’s an error icon, look for the error at the bottom of the file explorer window, or right click on the Onedrive, and then select View error which opens the modern Onedrive app “Progress” view page.
Verify if the files being uploaded do not exceed the 2GB file limit in Onedrive client (Windows Explorer).
The file has a name that is not supported. Rename the file to a valid name.

Finally you can run the Onedrive troubleshooter.

We can give you a much more specific answer if you upload the DMP files to skydrive (or some other file sharing service) and put a link to them in your next post. My gut feeling says your first suspect (symantec) may be the underlying cause but cant tell till we see the data.

    • in reply to: Should I install Win 7 SP1 yet? #1278693

I would run the readiness too to be sure but have had no problems with its install across about 200 machines. Remember to have a restore point and backup just in case

    • There is the first mistake. NORTON. It is a resource hog and aused BSOD’;s.

Microsoft security essentials is free and light on the resources.

The computer was 100% new custom build [Intel Dual Core i5-661, 3.33GHZ; Intel DH55TC Motherboard, Kingston KVR 1333D 4gb RAM, WD Caviar Black 1tb HD, etc…. I don’t do anything fancy with Windows, but after going through all the previous editions of Windows, I wasn’t prepared to ‘re-learn’ a computer’s operating system….. ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ 🙂

Like a car where you may buy a new one and have to learn how it operates, the same Holds true fro win 7. After all it has been 10+ years since XP’s debut and there are bound to be some new things in it. I have both XP (sp-3) and win 7 and its just a matter of getting familiar with it.

      Hi and welcome

If it is just one site it may be them, if more than one it could be a setting in your anti-virus or firewall. When you boot into safe mode (F8) with networking does it do the same thing? Can we get your system specs and network setup so we know what hardware you are using?

    • in reply to: Getting large download usage with Windows 7 #1250026

      Hello again, Colleagues All,

I have not visited this site for a while, because I have been trying to get my head around WIndows 7 (Home Premium) on my new computer (Compaq Presario, 64 Gbytes memory, 500Gbytes disk space). One of the issues I have is that Windows 7 (and probably my Norton AV software) communicate with their home sites over the internet a lot. With my old XP system, I normally used about half of my monthly allowance of 2000 Mbytes (I have a wireless connection), but in the first month of service, I was billed for almost 3000 Mbytes. The 1000 Mbytes excess cost me $120, which is a big jump from my usual $30. I have downloaded a few Utube videos and similar stuff but no movies or games. The questions I now put to this most erudite forum are (1) can I download help in bulk once only to avoid my programs constantly searching the internet or (2) if I must put up with it, is there any monitoring software which could track my downloads and maintain a history. I can go to my provider site and get usage to date, but unless I go there several times a day, I have difficulty in associating download usage with particular programs.

      Jim.

      Hi Jim and welcome back

First you should dump Norton. Not only does it phone home but is a major source of BSOD’s in win 7. As someone who does BSOD’s daily I have seen far too many from Symantec.

Then, if you are running gadgets in win 7 they use a ton of bandwidth.

If you are still concerned there is a third party app called net limiter that will keep track of and throttle apps.

      Good Luck

      Ken

Does it exhibit the same behavior in safe mode (F8)? If not it may very well be a driver conflict

I’m having a problem with Itunes not syncing with my ipod shuffle 2nd generation, under Windows 7 64bit Version! Anyone else having similar problems. I cab’t restore the ipod to factory settings. Keep getting errors during the restore process and process stops… Why can’t apple get there stuff to work with WIN7? Help!

      Steve Hi and welcome

What version of iTunes? there were some reported problems with 9.x. 10.x is out. You should also check device manager to ensure all your usb drivers are installed and working

      Here is how
Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any “unknown devices” with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

      good luck

    • in reply to: Need WMP 12 back #1241512

My son’s Windows 7 laptop had WMP 12 on it, but was having trouble trying to save files, so he was going to go down to 11 and only got as far as turning off the service and downloading the exe for 11 install. He said it gave some kind of errors when trying to install 11, now 12 won’t work. A popup says to download from the web, but of course that goes to a dead file and I think 12 is part of W7 isn’t it?

How can we get WMP 12 running again?

      –KZ

Well if you have the win 7 DVD you can do a repair install. Just boot from the dvd and click repair my computer

Make sure you have a resore point and backup just in case.
