      G’day Joe,
http://www.nrl.com.au also seems to have the same issues (another sporting site that you can stream audio coverage during a footy game). http://www.abc.net.au/canberra/ on the other hand works fine (different window pops up).
      Yep, Windows up to date

      Cheers

Sorry for the slow reply…a reformat did the trick. Still don’t know what was going on!

Okay, I’ve un-installed and reinstalled IE6 (via the control panel). The situation is “better” – but no less frustrating. Sometimes my favourites appear, sometimes they don’t with no apparent reason as to why. (We have IE7 at work, and I don’t like it so I will stick with IE6 for now).
Thanks for the process monitor suggestion, but I might be getting out of my depth looking at it.
What I intend to do is a system format. I’m starting to get the feeling that there is too much unidentifiable crap in the system.
Even with XP, I like to do it every 12 months anyway to get that “totally clean” feeling. If that works on my laptop, then I’ll tackle the desk top.
      Thanks all for your time

No, sorry Jezza – tried shutting down ZA, nil result. Still not getting the favourites appearing

    • in reply to: Loosing Favourites? (XP SP2) #1095055

ZA, AVG, SPYBOT are all up to date. I can select favourites without anything being blocked – it’s just that my favourites don’t automatically appear when I open an IE window.

G’day Doc. I understand that you can click on the favourites button to have them appear (see the panel on the left side of the attached screen grab). But it used to be that the favourites would appear be default when I opened a new browser window. Now I only get the browser window (panel on right side of grab) and I have to manually select the favourites option from my standard button bar. Not a big then, just very annoying and I don’t know why it has changed.

      Sorry, IE6

    • in reply to: LIVE AUDIO/PREVIEW ISSUE (XP2 full updates) #1091318

Sorry I never got back to you folks (I sorta gave up on Woody’s after the last melt down *cringe*)
Turns out the streaming for some audio programs wasn’t pointing to media player at all…and I have no idea why. Once I got things talking to media player again (and I went back to “MP classic”) no dramas! I swear, MP classic is still the best of the lot. It hasn’t got too many bells and whistles to bog it down, and seems to pick up the codecs a lot easier…anyway, I’m rambling.
      Thanks again

Just another capture of the problem

Thanks John. It is set to LAN and the dial-up window was still appearing…rats, still no luck!

Yep, full scans run – and both when I open a tab or a click a hyperlink

    • in reply to: Spelling (Outlook 2003) #1045089

Thanks all – seems to be working now, don’t know why though – maybe I just hit it the right way in frustration.

    • in reply to: Spelling (Outlook 2003) #1031590

No, I’m not using Word as my editor – and it is sent in Aussie English anyway…still no luck

    • in reply to: Spelling (Outlook 2003) #1031586

On a similar topic, I have my default spell checker correctly set in my options to Australian English. That is also my default in my general XP Control Panel. Yet every time I send a message from outlook, it defaults to the US English spell checker. It really bugs me, I’m not a Yank, I’m not keen on “zedding” everything…like “authorize”…the word is “authorise”…arrggh.
It’s my little problem I know, but any assistance greatly appreciated!

Ahhh! Copy that, thanks John – it’s all coming together now & fits in nicely with the advice Leif had given me (I thought I was getting mixed messages, but it was yet another example of operator error..mine 😐 )
You will be pleased to know, all you efforts have not been in vain – you’ve saved me about $250AUD as I’ll be off tomorrow to by an upgrade to XP rather than the full install. All you have to do is call past the A.C.T. and I’ll shout the beers to reward the advice given from Woody’s. Bonza mate!
