AskWoody LoungerJust out of interest, what version of Word did you use to test this? I use 2003 SP3, and for me the For Each routine works correctly.
I’ve seen comments elsewhere (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/isvvba/thread/a974f1e4-ed02-4b68-8ee5-6d7389cc719d, for example) that suggest that Word 2010 works differently – and, presumably, incorrectly.

AskWoody LoungerAn internet search will give you applications that create HTML files from Word documents, seemingly retaining the Word headers and footer in the process. One such application is:
http://www.docconverters.com/doc-to-html-converter-tool.htm
This may be free – it’s hard to tell! I haven’t tried (or downloaded) this.

AskWoody LoungerThere is only one card reader on the front of my PC and there never will be another one, to my knowledge, at least, not that I will put there – there is no room.. Currently, anything that is inserted into that existing reader goes to the D drive – doesn’t matter if it is a CD, DVD, readable, writable, multisided or whatever, it all comes under the D drive whenever anything is inserted into the one existing drive.
It still seems that you’re confusing your optical drive (the D drive) with what might be a card reader. Card readers read SD cards and the like. If you do have a card reader, it might not be on the front as has been suggested – it could be on the side or at the back instead. You might also have to remove a small plastic insert to access the reader (I’ve seen Dell netbooks with those). If you confirm what type of Dell you’ve got it should be possible to check its drives via the Dell website.
Incidentally, some monitors also have built-in card readers.

AskWoody LoungerThe following code works for me, using Word 2003.
Code:Dim i As Integer With Selection.Comments For i = .Count To 1 Step -1 .Item(i).Delete Next i End With

AskWoody LoungerThis may be determined by the layout of your graphics – whether they’re in the text layer (in line with text) or one of the drawing layers (floating). If they are floating, are you able to change that and see if it makes a difference? (It makes a difference for me, using Word 2003.)

AskWoody LoungerSee http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/excel-97-2003-features-that-are-not-supported-in-office-excel-2007-HA010198895.aspx?queryid=16695459f2c9439883b63d464125eaab&respos=0&CTT=1#BMprogramming for an explanation.
I don’t have Office 2007 here, so I can’t comment about the use of Microsoft Script Editor as a standalone program.

AskWoody LoungerYou must have some settings that are different, because I can certainly use “Find and Replace” with text boxes in Word 2003 (SP3).
I presume you’re not trying to do this while in “Normal View” or “Outline View” – because that won’t work.

AskWoody LoungerAre you using the latest version of Acrobat 9?
The release notes for the version 9.2 update (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/500/cpsid_50026.html), for example, mention problems with PDFMaker that have supposedly been fixed.

AskWoody LoungerThe “Tools | Word Count” command has a setting to include or exclude footnotes and endnotes. Does use of this make a difference?

AskWoody LoungerYou could also try one of the many online services that are now available. A quick search found the following, for example:
http://www.pdfonline.com/pdf2word/index.asp
http://www.convertpdftoword.net/
I haven’t used any of these, so I can’t vouch for their accuracy.

AskWoody LoungerI use Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard to create PDF files from Word 2002 SP3 documents, and I’ve found that mailto links that contain a period in the address are:
1. Created correctly if the PDF files are created using the “PDFMaker” add-in with the “Add links to Adobe PDF” option checked.
2. Not created correctly if the PDF files are created using the “PDFMaker” add-in with the “Add links to Adobe PDF” option unchecked.
3. Not created correctly if the PDF files are created by printing to “Adobe PDF”.
In 2 and 3, the effect is what you’ve noticed – everything before the period is excluded.
My OS is Windows 2000 SP4, if that’s relevant (hey, I’m at work).

AskWoody LoungerAccording to the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211489 page, the maximum size of a Word 2003 document, excluding graphics, is 32MB.

AskWoody LoungerAccording to the http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-windows-vista-music-pictures-video/195860-microsoft-greetings-php-files-opening-problems.html page, it seems that someone was able to open PHP files using Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006.
Something to try, perhaps.

AskWoody LoungerIf you are desperate enough, it might be possible to do this with VBA by using the SendKeys command. The following code works for me, using Word 2002, by highlighting all instances of “the” in the active document:
SendKeys “the”
SendKeys “%T”
SendKeys “%F”
SendKeys “%{F4}”With Dialogs(wdDialogEditFind)
.Display
End WithThis works by selecting (toggling?) the “Highlight all items found in:” option (and running the code twice seems to make it work regardless of the initial setting).
To use this you might need to worry about the sticky Find settings, and whether or not the “Find what” content exists in the document. There’s also the flashing dialog to contend with (setting ScreenUpdating to False doesn’t seem to make a difference).
In my experience the SendKeys command can be flaky, which is why I only ever use it if nothing else works.
