Perhaps put the Excel file in a Folder named “A-Z Index”. That should put the folder at the top of your folders list.

I too get annoyed with Windows trying to organise MY files.

I too got sick of some of Foxit’s “features” with recent versions. I am not running Linux, but have switched to Evince for a pdf reader. I’m very happy with it. It’s lightweight, simple and does all that I want a pdf reader to do.
