Good Point Don; I have lowered my standards.

If anyone knows of a U.S. wide service I’d be obliged.

Here is a blog on the “pay as you go”.
      Pay as you go

It says they use the Sprint network, so it should be US wide.

      Also, AT&T advertises WorldWide coverage!!!!
But you do have to have a monthly contact.

If you can get cell phone coverage, Verizon, att, and others all offer internet service, many times with free usb receivers if you sign up for a monthly plan.
I think there is one now that has a pay as you go plan too. Saw a ad on TV but forget the brand.

    • in reply to: wireless connection failed in Vista #1171364

I have a Toshiba laptop with Vista Business Installed. Recently I have been having problem connecting to the internet using the wireless connection. The wireless connection works fine within the LAN and I can view all the network devices. However, it would not let me connect to the Internet. My other laptops (on WinXP) have no issues with the wireless connection.

When I tried ipconfig /renew, it always reported errors on the wireless part and cannot renew an IP for it. Wired adapter did get the IP though.

      Thanks

My Toshiba does this just once in a while,

Don’t forget to unplug and replug the modem, router, (and in my case the Access point) and push the reset buttons.
This always seems to work for me…….

      Good Luck…

If the printer still shows in control panel | printers – delete it.

For the software check add/remove programs and see what HP software is installed.

You can also try a tool like Revo Uninstaller Freeware – Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems.

      Thanks Joe,
Will try your suggestions next time I am over.

    • in reply to: A question of toilet paper placement #1164387

I’m in a quandary and hope the bright problem-solving minds here can help me find an answer.

My husband goes in for surgery on his left shoulder in two weeks. He’s gonna have the tendon at the shoulder disconnected and reattached to his shoulder bone with a screw. Ouch. Fortunately, he’s right handed so he will be able to do most things for himself. I’m trying to be the helpful wife, looking for what I need to change to help him out. The biggest problem so far is the toilet paper which is going to be a big challenge.

Below is a diagram of our bathroom. As you can see the toilet paper dispenser is let of the toilet. He won’t be able to use his left arm for several days and even then won’t be able to reach back at that angle with his left arm. The counter will also be too far to reach with his left arm. And placing toilet paper on the floor is a bad idea for the obvious reason it’ll get wet from the shower plus we have two cats and a dog that think they own the bathroom. Last night I dreamt of hanging it from the ceiling or the bathroom hook (on wall just outside shower door) but dangling toilet paper would probably take two hands, one to hold it steady while the other pulls.

The only thing I can think to do is place a second dispenser on the wall in front of the toilet, just outside the shower. But that’s where we step out of the shower so it’s gonna get wet there and will get in the way. Even if I put it there just for a little while until he’s better then I’ll have holes in the wall afterward.

I go with the free standing one.

    • in reply to: Evolution – Experience Anyone? (2.6.2-2) #1159076

My response was to unkamunka in regards to TB polling multiple accounts, not Evolution – my TB 2.0.0.21 is currently polling 9 different accounts, 3 Gmail – 1 high volume (60+ per day), 1 from my ISP and 5 from my private domains. Sorry that my post was misleading.

Opps, I re-read the post and saw that you were talking about TB. . .sorry,

Maybe someone else will have an answer about Evolution…..

      Thanks,

    • in reply to: Evolution – Experience Anyone? (2.6.2-2) #1158935

I’m not having any problem polling 6 separate email accounts – 5 from my ISP and one GMail account – everything comes thru just fine.

Ed, I am digging up this old post to ask you about Evolution. I got it working on Vista and I can send on my gmail account but I can’t get to receive gmail.
Could you share with me the settings you are using…..

So far I like Evo, and I am anxious to see if it will replace Outlook for me. I like open source ‘stuff’.
I am slowly moving over, to see if I can get completely away from MS.

I like openoffice and have been trying to use it as much as I can to get over the learning curve.

But getting back to EVo, I like it but like I said I can’t get gmail to work. I have 5 accounts and really need it to work with gmail.

      thanks

    • in reply to: printing header #1157830

I sent an Excel file (2003) to someone who has 2007.

When he prints the page, the header only prints on the first page and then the rest of the one page file prints next on another sheet of paper.

I know there must be a setting somewhere but I can’t find it…..

I had him check the margins and they are set the same as mine. It is a one line header.

When I print it, it prints all one one page.

      thanks for your help.

Well he just called and said he played around with the margins and now all is ok!

      False alarm……

    • in reply to: Page Format – Two Per Page #1156305

Using Publisher 2007, I have designed a single-page flyer. It is currently 8.5 X 11 and in landscape orientation. What I’d like to do is convert what I have to a “two per page format”. I want two flyers on one side of one sheet, each taking half the page.

It must be possible, but it’s just not immediately clear how to proceed. I am a novice at Publisher… I do have special printer capabilities that will allow me to print two per page outside of the Publisher program, but that’s not what I really need. Ultimately, I will need to convert my publisher file to a PDF and email away. So I need the “two per page” issue to be handled within Publisher.

      Guidance would be much appreciated.

If you don’t need to change it. . .and depending on the original size and look of the single page design, you might be able to – – – Select all and and save as picture. Then paste two ‘pictures’ on a page. Adjusting size to fit.
