    • Hello Loungers,

After swapping the PCI-e NIC on the Dell PE 830 the error disappear, but it’s still giving me troubles. After
12 – 16 hours the connection dropped and there’s no errors on the eventviewer and it just goes offline.
I ordered a PCI NIC from Dell it should be here on Friday. This card it’s not Intel according to Dell they no longer available, so they are shipping this one Dell/Intel Pro 100S 10/100 PCI NIC (8G779) which suppose to replace the original Intel card. Sound strange to me but, that what Dell saying. Stay tuned I will post the the outcome of the new NIC what’s arrived.

      Cheers,

    • After a long search for a solution I decided to replace the card that I got from Dell the Pci-e Intel Pro/1000 PT Server Adapter with a good old 3Com 3C905CX-TX 10/100 fast Ethernet PCI adapter. It’s been working without losing connection for the last 12-hour. I planing on changing to Intel PCI Gigabit adapter as soon as possible. My suspicion’s that the bus may be causing this error, but I can’t confirm it. All I know is that the Broadcom on board and the Intel pci-e cards where giving similar errors.

I would appreciate any thought on the subject

      Hi,

I have dealt with this issue few times in the past and my observation are: Use the fastest technology you can afford (things are moving rapidly in this field).
Stay away from WiFi due to its reliability and tendencies to fail at any time without warning. Install all the wires inside the frames Cat 6 or Fiber at the framing
and leave them for later time when needed. This way you will save yourself plenty of time, labor and ripping open walls later on. Do your research and determine
your needs or your anticipating one it will pay back. Consider installing Audio wires and use Cat 5 for the phone. There’s an excellent site (bit old) for such
a project here: How To. The author Bob Catanzarite walk you through the process of wiring your house from the planing to the
actual wiring, tools, testing and much more. Please be aware that it’s a big job to do – if you are attempting to do-it-by-yourself be advise to give yourself plenty of time and budget to match. I think it’s worthy cause, and can save you some money. However, If you decided to hire a contractor you need to watch them and specify your needs very clearly, and specify the materials to be used.

      Good Luck

      Well,

I finally managed to solve the problem. I removed the program BitDefender 2010 A/V, removed ZoneAlarm Firewall. Reinstall BitDefender, run update and it seems to work. I’m not
sure if that was the only cause, all I know is the ZoneAlarm was not running. I never heard from BitDefender support again.

      Thanks for the advise
      I’ll end this thread

Hi, I looked at their support page and it didn’t offer much help about this issue. My computer is still can’t access the web. I’ll try to remove this product later on today. Frankly I’m very disappointed with the anemic tech support that I’d contacted.
