That’s helpful, thanks. I will try to make it a Closing event, and one where the Journal “item” is fully handled by the macro. I don’t want to have to do anything except find the entry in the journal folder. If the macro can answer any save questions, it should.

I went into Word and changed the settings per the second link, but Excel attachments still open as Read-only. In Excel, the Trust center selections had also been cleared as you thought. We can use the Actions/Edit Message path, but it’s just another step slowing things down.

Actually, this isn’t quite it. My example was probably off, and was missing a key ingredient.

The idea is that A ships to B 20 of product 1, then later B ships to A 6 of product 1. The net AB is 14 of product 1 between A and B. Or A to C and C to A. Or B to C and C to B, for products 1, 2, 3…n, and hundreds of As and Bs and Cs. So I’m trying to boil down the AB, AC, CB by product, with the kicker that the individual transaction records are all positive in quantity. It’s to create a financial adjustment summarizing opertations system details. We don’t need every transaction in the financials, just the net effect for a period.

Yes, I have. I have never seen VHP ask or report creating a system restore point. I thought that was XP, but I’m no expert. AVG would simply not update so I temporarily uninstalled it. ZA is still working. My next move is to boot in safe mode and try to get a “Last know good configuration” if such a thing exists.

I don’t understand the situation See the upload attached. I thougth I was doing as suggested, but must be missing something important. I’m looking for the table to include a filed such as COL F shows, so I’m not constantly doing Column F each time teh table changes. Thanks again.

I want to save the file I received with my changes to it. That is what the sender is expecting. Also, that keeps the email chain intact. So I do want to replace the original with my changed copy without having to go the Copy of route.

Good question, I believe I just pasted. Paste values might have avoided a problem, but even in the first instance, before I tried a re-copy, why should Excel be warning me about an external source when the original data was in the workbook?

I tried Leif’s file as an exe and now have it in my WIndows Startup folder. Works fine. Thanks for all the ideas.
