      You did not mention if the issue is wifi or lan, I’ll guess wifi, the first remark is on target, check the devise-manager. Next, where is your laptop in relation to the router, was it moved, replaced, is it sitting on the floor. Can you reposition or move it closer to the laptop. Or move your laptop closer to the router and see if it connects better.

      If the router and laptop are in the same room try connecting via ethernet cable connection to your router. This would also give you full potential throughput from your isp that you’er paying for. You may be supersized to find what your missing out on using wifi.

      You mention, other wireless devices are working normal, check the frequency your laptop is connecting to; 2.4 or 5 GHz…a quick overview, 2.4 GHz gives better distance (wall penetration) but slower data flow, 5 GHz on the other hand will give you greater speed but at the cost of shorter distance from your router. Left click your connection icon (fan) in the taskbar and locate your ssid connections looking for 2.4 & 5 GHz connections. What your connected to will be at the top. If you are connected to your 5 GHz network look down the list for the 2.4 network with your ssid designation and log into that and see if that helps your connection issue.

      There are many variables to wifi, it can be quite finicky. You may need to replace the WLAN adapter in your laptop, you may need a wifi extender or access point. What type router do you have…is it from your isp or your own? Generally your isp provides, for a monthly fee, a combination modem/router or gateway. Consider purchasing your own and save those monthly equipment fees…the list of online wifi topics and help is endless…here is a link from cnet.com you may find helpful;

      Some folks just think they know more than the experts no matter what the subject is. You could be digging a post hole or replacing a power supply in a pc and your doing it all wrong in their view. There is nothing wrong with that mind you as you may just learn something new sometimes, maybe, depends…? I always listen to any opinions. My dad taught me that a long time ago!

      I run my own in home computer business building custom desk tops, manly hi-end gaming machines. My customers will ask me how much anti-virus software will cost, I simply tell them its free……All my machines went out the door with Avast, until MSE came along. It runs quiet, lean and clean. My machines boot in less than 30 seconds.

      Someone who already is familiar with video editors needs to try this and relate whether it’s useful to the average person:

      Now going open source and available in public beta: http://www.lightworksbeta.com/

      I haven’t tried it myself.

      Hi, take it from me, light-Works beta is not for the faint of heart !…If your looking for a simple or easy video editor I would stick with Windows Live Movie Maker. I would suggest to anyone thinking about LW to go to the website and log into the forum tab and you will get a good feel for what you will be getting yourself into. It is free & will be released as open source sometime next year. However you will notice reading through the forum posts there are bugs to deal with. I had issues myself with codecs, importing files, crashes. That being said, once the bugs are fixed and final release is out, it will be awesome and well worth your time to learn. Just keep in mind there will be a learning curve.

      Robert, try this little trick, after you select / highlight the item you would like to move, while holding down the “shift” key right click on the item and you will see many more options to move to & if you have created new or extra shortcuts this is how they will show up! Here is the link….
