TeeHeeHee…Like I said, it’s probably fairly obvious. I do that a lot on the computer, try and make things more complicated than they actually are. Thanks for all your help.

I guess I’m doing something wrong, cause it isn’t working out for me. Here’s the process:

1.Change the page layout of the document: (page Setup under file menu) It is set up 2 pages per sheet, landscape orientaion.

Add a 2 column table to one of the pages, and insert the required merge fields into left hand column. (Merge type catalog) Merge to new document, and all the merge fields show up on the left hand side only. What am I not doing? (It’s probably something obvious)

    • Not a bad idea, but I don’t have access to the SQL Server replication service, I’m only running the SQL engine locally that comes with the .NET framework. I’d like to think the web site will be so popular I’ll need SQL Server, but really…. I can’t really link the tables with MSDE, as I’m working both at home and at work. Thanks for your help, and I’m all ears for more suggestions. It all comes down to the fact I don’t type well, and anything to ease data input is just wonderful.

    • Not a bad idea, but I’m only adding plants in the access app, not directly on the web page. (It’ll basically be an online catalog) Any other ideas? Thanks for your help!

Yep, that works. One gets so wrapped up in a MS world you can almost forget other people write software too. The stubborn fool in me wants to figure out what is wrong with the MS VM, the realist in me wants to go read a book to my sweet adorable childern. Thanks for the pointer.

thanks for your reply-slick screenshot too….Had that option checked already, and I also checked the Java console, rebooted and tried that. Still no go. Hmmmmm….

    • in reply to: Need both VS.Net and VB.Net? (VS.Net ) #637509

Not that I really know what I’m talking about, but here’s my take on it all…..
The Framework SDK (the free part) can indeed be used to run and compile programs. You can also write books with Notepad! They released this to allow people to tack this onto their IIS installations, it’s free like Internet Explorer, give something away to make it reach critcal mass.

Now we get to the languages. No, you do not need to buy VS.Net and VB.Net. All products come with the framework SDK. I myself bought VB.Net, and yes you can make .exe programs from it. I think MS released it more as an introduction/ price point, maybe for weekend hacks like myself that find fooling around in VB more fun than DOOM. The biggest gap I’ve seen between standalone VB and the entire VS package seems to be the database tools, and this is a serious bummer. I make do with .adp projects in Access when fooling around with the SQL Server engine installed with .Net.

    • in reply to: Default Value Previous Field? (Access 2000) #550883

      Hi again!

Maybe I need to be clearer. I have a combo box on a form, where the user (me, the poor typist) enters the supplier name for a received piece of inventory. It

Thanks for your prompt reply–A nice elegant solution solution, which I sadly can’t get to work. It’s a combo box, and I’m putting [comboboxname].DefaultValue=[comboboxname].Text in the AfterUpdate property of the c-box. Even tried .Value. Nothing doing. Am I being a little oversimplistic?
