Duchess is referring to the “Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-023” as mentioned in Woody’s Windows Watch Vol.2 No.19.

I’m not sure why it should “block” access only to banking site(s).

As a “quick fix” would another browser work (such as Opera)?

Just a guess, maybe hardware failure?

“Real mode system memory ” is the RAM; as opposed to “Virtual memory” which is allocated on hard disk.

Note: Depending on how you have the network configured it is possible for the “Network Administrator” to disable password saving for users as a system policy.

Specifically refers to WinME upgrade problems.

As you say in your initial post – I also hear a faint “bell” ringing. Unfortunately it’s very faint….

Wasn’t this something to do with document importing / type conversion? Check your current Word File -Save as… settings (doc rtf etc).

.. getting old, memory failing

Not a solution but maybe a workaround?

Add NotePad to the Send To directory and then use “right click” and Send To ?

You’ve probably discovered by now but anyway…

Changing the FileType association ADDS the editor to the available list in InterNet Explorer. Notepad is still available.

Jeff changed the “edit” function, I haven’t tried this but if you wish to change the rightclick – view utility then perhaps you need to create a “view” function in the FileType association as there isn’t one by default?
