      jepalmer,

Select the graph with the big border and then choose “Line Color” from the “lower” draw toolbar. Then choose “no line” –
Yes, it’s a pain to do this with every graph.

Alternatives are to try out the other ‘multiple’ picture inserters….

      BATCH IMPORT images into PowerPoint

But I’m not sure if they class EMFs as a ‘picture’

      Barbara,

Powerpoint is notoriously not good at keeping sounds in sync consistently. Particularly when played over several slides.

The best information I know on giving you tips to work around this niggle are at

January 20, 2006 at 9:34 am in reply to: creating image files (2002 SP3) #995658

      Michael,

A long, long, long time ago, I found that the way to get the best quality, for this sort of thing, was to “grab” each screen during a slideshow. Doing this allows you to take advantage of the “anti-aliasing” (smooth) of the fonts. = Better Quality.

To grab a screen just press “the print screen” key on your keyboard (PrtSc), to grab one screen at a time, then paste it into a graphics app (photoshop, et al)

I’m sure a utility such as snagit would greatly speed up the process.

If you just export bitmaps, from powerpoint, then there is no smoothing of the fonts. You could however, try another avenue, of export really big bitmaps, and then reduce them down to 300 pixels, that may also help to keep the quality.

      See
Improve PowerPoint’s GIF, BMP, PNG, JPG export resolution

January 4, 2006 at 11:45 am in reply to: Background image (2003) #992800

if you create a presentation using the template

      then do this

format menu > background > click the drop down triangle > fill effects > picture .. etc

you should see the “background image”

If you replace the image with a new one – then it will update the background.

Then all you need to do is save the file as a template (.pot)

file menu > save as > change the filetype to ‘template’

      Cheers

My thoughts too…. if you cannot select the image – then it’s on the “background”.

You can get to this from a powerpoint menu…
format menu > background > click the drop down triangle > fill effects > picture .. etc

December 17, 2005 at 10:39 am in reply to: ‘powerpoint mouse disappears’ (PP 2003) #990785

      Jim,

One way to make the mouse pointer always visible, is to set your current presentation to “kiosk” mode. This setting is saved with your presentation.

Slideshow menu > set up show > kiosk mode

Then you would need to add some buttons to each slide to enable you to move forward and backwards in the presentation. Invisible buttons work equally as well.

December 12, 2005 at 2:16 pm in reply to: Animation settings – is there a quicker way? (2003) #989764

Unfortunately powerpoint only (on mouse clicks) the 1st level.
So you’re left with (right click > custom animation) select the ‘block of sub points’ in the custom animation window, then choose “on mouse click”

Do you show the ‘custom shows’ in a linear fashion? or do you jump to then as and when needed ?

If it’s the format, can you not just create a show with all your slides in the correct order ?

      Ian (nice hat BTW),

I’m a big fan of the old ppt 97 animation menu too.

In powerpoint 2003, go to your slide

slideshow menu > animation schemes > wipe (or another choice) > done (it defaults to 1st level bullet point clicks)

      xmas cheers

December 1, 2005 at 9:10 am in reply to: AutoFormat reg setting (Powerpoint XP SP3) #987887

      Diana,

usual caveat ‘ dont mess with the registry – at your own risk – take a backup – etc etc ‘

      [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice11.0PowerPointOptions]

      “AutoFitTextBody”=dword:00000000
      “AutoFitTextTitle”=dword:00000000

I guess changing ‘dword’ from all the noughts (OFF) to
      dword:00000001

      equals ON

I think it’s fantastic – only downloading the info for what is on the slide master is a brilliant idea.

      – Can it cope with the odd slide that has set “omit info from slide master” ?
      – Can it cope if the photo on the slide master moves about (so long as the text does not overlap it?)
      – I bet it would work a treat if the background had a tinted / colour washed in a single color image ?

      It gets my vote anyway!!!!

      Darryl,

Since you are using powerpoint 2003, you may be able to achieve what you want by the use of “triggers”
