When a user enters data such as a part number that contains the dash, for example 12-3366, in a cell Excel automatically changes this to a date.
I can get around it temporarily by formatting the whole column as text but anytime a search and replace is done it reverts any changed to a date again. Help!!

That works, was hoping it was some obscure setting buried somewhere but your solution will get us by. Thanks!

Yes your right on that but the user persists on wanting to use html so as to have the stationary. I already ruled out the stationary itself as the problem because I can use it just fine on my pc.

I had the same problem but with 2K Server which was running multihomed (dual nic card). I made an older single NIC card server the Wins server and the event went away. Lessons learned from this is don’t run WINS on a multihomed Server nor don’t run DNS from one either.

Well I found a work around, I made each workstation part of a workgroup instead of the domain and then restarted the computer and then went back through the Network Wizard and they joined the domain with no problems. The only downside is the extra reboot but I can live with that. Thanks for the response and sorry I took so long to post a response back.

And going from 98 to ME is more like a downgrade than an upgrade.

As I am a network admin I agee that they can protect this file for you in a variety of ways, by restricting who can view, open or even see what files are there. An ounce of prevention…

What settings do you have for your dial up connection for the modem? This shouldn’t have changed right? Do you remember what you had to start with Winfax? Does your modem show any conflicts in device manager?
