      Try this:

Open Internet Explorer and change the View/Text Size from largest to smallest and see if that doesn’t change the print size in Outlook Express. It does for me.

Open your address book and click help and about address book to see the path. Mine points to a *.wab file.

This site is for OE5 but I still use it for my OE6 problems:

This is for XP but it should be similar in ME.

Start Windows Explorer in any folder and click Tools/Folder Options/View. Under files and Folders scroll down and uncheck the box for

If you ordered systems with an OEM version of WinXP preinstalled then they are not supposed to require activation. Your problem here may be what the vendor gives you as a back-up copy to reinstall. If you are getting retail copies of the software then product activation applies.

You can read about Windows Product Activation here:

      http://aumha.org/a/wpa.htm

How often do you “Clean Up” these computers? If it is less than 30 days, you will not have to activate at all. If you do activate it should install on the same hardware with no problems but if there is a problem it should just take a call to MS (no experience here just repeating what I have read).

OfficeXP on the other hand gives you 50 starts before you have to activate. But, Office creates a file called data.dat that has the activation info. Just copy that and as long as you put the same copy on the same hardware you can copy it back and it will still be activated. I have reformatted a hard drive and reinstalled OfficeXP and it was still activated after I copied data.dat (that I had saved to a floppy) back to its original location.

Here is a web page that may help:

      http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/comp/fdd/fileChange-c.html

I would also suggest reseating the floppy cable at both the floppy and the motherboard ends before buying anything.

Glad I could be of assistance.

Just a word of warning though. Once items are deleted from the deleted items folder they are gone forever as far as I know. So, if you add a rule or block other senders don’t forget to check the deleted items folder before you exit (or turn off delete on exit) until you are sure it is filtering like you want it to. I wouldn’t want to be the cause of you losing an important message without even knowing you got it.

    • in reply to: New Messages (5.50) #565205

Yes, Blocked senders are sent to the deleted items folder. I have the deleted items folder set to empty on exit (in OE6 at tools/options/maintenance, first checkbox) and do not look in it unless I delete something accidentally and haven’t exited yet.

    • in reply to: Moving OE Files to WinXP (6.00.2600.0000) #565202

It did for me. I went from OE5 under Win98 to OE6 under WinME. Then from WinME to WinXP with OE6. Supposedly OE5 and OE6 have the same file structure. Here is another page on Tom Koch’s site that explains updating from OE5 to OE6:

      http://www.tomsterdam.com/insideoe5/faqs/how.htm#importOE5

    • in reply to: New Messages (5.50) #565027

Did you make a message rule that does this?

Edited by suitcase on 20-Jan-02 14:44.

I went from Win98 to WinME about a year ago then to WinXP using Tom Koch’s procedures shown here:

      http://www.tomsterdam.com/insideoe5/backup/index.htm

The only problem i encountered is that I burned the files on a CDR which makes them read only. OE apparently does not like this. So, copy them to a temporary directory on your hard drive and then import them.

      Added url code.

Here is the site for Logitech keyboard software:

      http://www.logitech.com/cf/support/kybdfiles.cfm

There are two software downloads available and you have to pick the correct one for your keyboard. My keyboard uses the Itouch software and is working fine with WinXP HE. And sure enough in checking the link above I see that both my keyboard and mouse software has been updated in the past few days.

    • in reply to: Win XP problem with Age of Empires 2 #563447

I can’t help SeanB with his problem but I can say that I have this game running on XP Home Edition with an Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 MX card with XP’s drivers. The only problem I experienced was that the game attempted to contact the internet at the same time it was changing screen resolutions. I then had a black screen with a gray rectangle at the lower right of the screen. Nothing else was displayed and it just sat there. What I couldn’t see was that this was Zone Alarm’s window asking if I wanted to allow this program to access the internet. I eventually figured it out and the game has caused no problem since except the same problem repeated after I installed Microsoft’s update for the game.
