I managed to get a while on my own with the machine and when I checked there were no autotext entries at all in normal dot – the only template my husband uses! I simply deleted and forced a new instance of normal dot and then added one or two tweaks so he won’t notice anything other than the fact that he will be able to insert the file name in his footers!
      Thanks to you all

Phil – Messing with his Normal dot could cause severe marital discord! I am going to try to take him through your systemic approach if I can store up enough patience reserves this weekend. Thanks

Thanks Hans I will try to set aside some time at the weekend to take him through it – not using XP myself I had hoped that there might be some new setting that I wasn’t aware of – just like the “hide white space at top of page setting” that took me weeks to figure out!

Yes, Hans it does. I have had him send the doc in question to me (with Word 200 SP3) and I have no such problems. I have got him to look at View Header Footer in other totally unrelated docs and it is greyed out in all of them. I tried looking on the Microsoft KB and came up with nothing that seemed remotely relevant. I am totally stumped.
      Regards

I would try to make fish and preferably fresh rather than canned a large part of the family diet so that you can often all eat the same meal rather than always be making something specially for your daughter.

      How about Borlotti Bean Burgers

      50g pine kernels
1 x 425g can borlotti beans, drained, rinsed and dried on kitchen paper
1 small red onion finely chopped
      1 tbsp sun-dried tomatoes chopped
      50g fresh breadcrumbs
      1 egg beaten
      salt & pepper
      olive oil for frying

      Toast pine kernels until golden.
Place beans in large bowl and mash well with a fork.
Add onion, tomatoes, half the breadcrumbs, egg, pine kernels and seasoning mixing really roughly
Divide mixtue into 4 and shape as burgers
      Coat outside in remaining breadcrumbs
      Chill 1 hour or more
Heat oil in a large frying pan and add burgers. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden, drain on kitchen paper.
Serve immediately on toasted bun or bread top with salad leaves and spoon some mayo flavoured with basil over

All pulses and the like are good for her

Solved! Unplugged splitter, removed BT phone line, all was fine, put BT back in and still fine. Would have tried this earlier but phone socket is incredibly badly positioned between heavy furniture! Relief all round
      Thanks for all your help

I am afraid that I am. My ISP are adament that they are not having a problem at their end. There is no problem receiving my mail from them and I can send if I log onto my mailbox on their website – just not in the usual manner through Outlook.

I haven’t (wouldn’t) wittingly change security settings and a System Restore has no effect on this problem.

I did a Google on the error message but seemed to come up with things relating to Outlook Express which I have never used having always had full Office.
