    • in reply to: Pick from list and Go to different cell (Excel 97) #596852

The drop down list was created by click on cell E3, select “Data”->”Validation” and in the “Allow” drop down box select “List” and in the “Source” box below it type “Yes,No” (no quotation marks).
Then in cell E4 type =if(e3=”Yes”,”Go to cell h3″,”Go to cell G3)
The validation is a great way to limit entries by users. You can enter the values like I showed above or you can enter in the source a data range. For example, in cells F1 to F4 you could have “Yes”, “No”, “Sometimes” & “Never”. In the source box you would type =$F$1:$F$4 and when you open the drop down box you would see the four options.
Good luck I hope this helps.

      Hi Rory,
Thank you for your quick reply. I have no experience with macros, the macro I use in that program is one that one of the nice people in this lounge provided for me. If it’s not too much trouble could I impose upon you to provide me an example. From the way you described it, it sounds like it will work perfectly.
Thanks again for all of your help.

    • in reply to: Ordinary users cannot write to CD-R #583961

Last night I was at my night school class for Windows 200 Server and on our break we got talking about silly little problems that pop up with computers (magic?). Anyway someone brought up an almost identical problem, it was with different software than Nero but the results were identical. After we talked about rights and permissions etc. he said the solotion wasn’t with Win2000 at all, it was a problem with the software and after downloding a patch for the software it worked fine. I’m new at this so I don’t remember all the details, but the upshot was that the default settings with the software conflicted with the user settings in Windows.
Let me know if this doesn’t help and I will forward your message to him for a better explaination.

      Hi Gary,
It works like a charm, you have no idea how much time you have saved me. Not only that but there are other reports that I can do now that I couldn’t do before.
      Thanks again for your help.

Good Morning, I am using Crystal 6.0. I don’t believe it’s null values causing problems but I could be wrong.
I have used Excel for a long time and am very comfortable with it and I have never even seen Access in action so I would prefer to work with Excel. If you could point me in a direction to learn more about using the ODBC with Excel I would appreciate it. (I didn’t know I could do that!)

      Thanks for your reply,
The cell D10, D14, D18 etc contain a finished product code and F12, F16, F20 etc contain the quantity in stock. When Crystal Reports creates the report it looks fine all the information is on one row but when it is exported to Excel it doesn’t end up looking the same. In this example the match I want to find is always two cells down and two to the right, but in other reports the data will always be in a consistent column but the rows will vary.
Any help you can give on one or the other would be appreciated.
