      I have tried the /cleanreminders switch but not /cleanfreebusy. I’ll try that now. Any ideas on the type of maintenance that would need to be run on the Exchange server?

      We are having trouble with appointment and task reminders not firing or if they do fire, they show up anywhere 15 minutes to 15 hours later. I have checked the time zone and daylight savings information in Outlook and on the computer and they are both set to Eastern Standard time and to adjust for daylight savings. Delivery option is set to delivery to my Exchange mailbox.

      I have also tried running outlook /cleanreminders from the run line. Still experiencing problems.

      Anyone have any ideas???

      We are on Office XP SP-2. Operating system is Windows XP. Outlook version actually comes up as “Microsoft Outlook 2002 (10.4219.4219) SP-2

      I’ve tried installer and you’re right, Samantha, you can’t remove these two defaults via the installation. I cannot seem to find a way to remove these. Anyone else have an inkling?

      Unfortunately, this tells of how to remove the MRU templates but not the 2 defaults of “blank Web page” and “blank e-mail”. Any other ideas?

    • in reply to: Format Painter (Office 2000) #621691

      Not really. In word, too much direct formatting can cause alot of problems. Therefore, you should use styles to quickly update your formats and not the format painter. In Excel, though styles are available. They aren’t used much. You don’t have the problems with formatting corruption in Excel that you do in Word. You should be fine using the format painter in Excel. I’ve been using it for 10 years and have never experienced problems in Excel.

    • I have a document that may help and a website to recommend. The website is http://www.microsystems.com/publications.htm%5B/url%5D . Take a look at all the documents there. Microsystems is a great resource! They are wonderful. Also go into the Ask Teresa section for some great information. I have attached a document from this site below called “The Seven Laws of Word’s Outline Numbering”, which I found on the Microsystems website. I hope this is helpful.

      FYI….You may want to look to a 3rd party solution for Outline numbering. Microsoft doesn’t seem to have changing their numbering anywhere near the top of their list, especially if you are doing Legal number. MacPac 2000 is a wonderful product that makes numbering a snap. Payne consulting also has some tools that are useful with numbering.

      Good luck!

      You can also select the entire sheet, then place your pointer between 2 column headers and either double click to autosize or click and drag out to a specific size. This will resize all the columns of your spreadsheet at once.

      This is the only one I could find. It looks interesting!

      If you create an INDEX instead of a TOC then you will be able to alphabetize the entries. You’ll need to mark them first but this will do what you want.

    • in reply to: Checking Documents In/Out of Word? (XP SP1) #620892

      I think your manager overheard someone talk who has Docs Open. I don’t know of anything in Word 2002 that allows you to “check in/out” documents. Document Management systems such as Docs Open, Imanage, and WorldDoxs do though.

      Sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance.

    • in reply to: Cross References… (W97) #620891

      I’m not sure I understand your question fully musical1, but here it goes. Have you tried using bookmarks? Then if a bookmarked area comes up blank, it will automatically put in a blank. I have used this to add my firm name to the second page header as well as a Recipients name, though not using the STYLEREF code. Sometimes a recipients name is not added immediately, and therefore that part of my second page header is left blank.

      I hope this helps.

    • in reply to: Numbered Lists (Word 2000) #620887

      Change your number format from 1,2,3 to 01,02, 03. Don’t worry. It will count 08, 09, 10, 11. You can do this from the Format Menu—Bullets and Numbering—Numbering Tab—Choose a Number format—Click the Customize button.

      I hope this helps!

      You are not listing the symbol font and type. See the code below, It inserts a round bullet and then hits tab.
      Sub insertsymbol()

      ‘ insertsymbol Macro

      Selection.insertsymbol Font:=”Wingdings”, CharacterNumber:=-3937, Unicode :=True
      Selection.TypeText (vbTab)

      End Sub

      Have you tried putting in a Next Page Section break instead of a hard Page break (Insert—Break—NextPage)

      or pasting your document in as unformatted text (Edit—Paste Special–Unformatted text)?
