Thinking upsidedown. Ken, This may be the simplest idea; Totals at the top! Sometime the forest is hiding in the trees!

      Thanks to you both!

While we’re on the subject, does anyone know of any news groups/ etc for worship leaders/ slide creators?

    • in reply to: file paths (Office 97) #531006

Search the archive for “File name in header/footer ” or just go to the next page or two in these posts. I think the answer you’re looking for is there.

I’m a rookie on VB, guys.
What will the above macro do?
Where does it go; in the Parent (reporting to) document or all of the children (reporting from) or all of them?

I’m not recalling where in Excel to check the “Update Remote References”.

(Thanks for your help thus far!) Playing with it this morning, NOTHING is updating. I love MS!

I’m a doubting it, but without setting up a projector, does anyone know if this works with a laptop running an LCD projector?

    • in reply to: checking the template #529840

Could one of you VBA code spealists write a script that could update each slide layout? That would seem the simplest. Otherwise I’m pretty sure you’re stuck doing it manually.

      The short answer is “NO”.

Look below to post on changing templates. There are several links that will help. one is: http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.p…&view=&sb=&vc=1

The easiest way is to copy that one slide to a new presentation, then link to that when you need it. PPoint will automatically jump back to the original presentation when done.

    • in reply to: Presentation Total Time #1784372

When you open the presentation and select Slide Show | Rehearse Timings, this will produce a double clock which records the time for each slide and the total time for the whole show as mentioned above.

When you finish this option, a dialogue box will show on the screen showing the total time. I know this is the slow way, but if your presentation lasts about 30 minutes, it’ll take about that long to get the answer you’re looking for!

Worst case fix. View your document on screen and press ALT/Print screen- This copies only the “Active” window to the clip board. Paste the picture into a program like PaintShopPro and edit/crop/etc. Save as ‘gif’.

    • in reply to: Default animation #527459

Catherine mentioned this a while back. I think it’s buried in the thread she mentioned, but at the risk of repeating…

Open a blank presentation and make any and all changes to the Master you want to (Like your animation changes). Save As “Blank Presentation.POT”. At the bottom of the save as menu is the save as file type pull-down. The next time PP opens a blank presentation it will open that one with your “default” changes. (I used it to turn grid off- I hate that!)

    • in reply to: Design template differences in Pp2000 #527457

I have been teaching PowerPoint for several years. Basic advice I always give is to decide if any given element in a presetation supports the premise of the presentation. If it doesn’t, why is it being used/

In my mind these animations come under the heading of “Cute”. Cute seldom supports a presentation. It usually takes away from it. If you’re talking about a given subject near and dear to your heart and your audience is wondering why they see a ribbon move across the screen on EVERY slide, you have to ask yourself if it’s needed.

Just my 2 cents. There’s a 1000 ways to make interesting background in 10 minutes. Have at it!

    • in reply to: View browser within a slide show #1783764

One work around is to Alt/Tab to the browser and Alt/Tab back to your presentation

    • in reply to: Stringing presentations #1783763

How many different presentations are they trying to jump to? IF more than a few, they may be trying to do to much. IF just a few, I use a place on the master that will be on every slide; My logo, a certain element, etc. Then ON THE MASTER, create “Invisible” boxes OVER those elements that are slightly larger, it will eliminate having to be “perfectly pointed”.

When I do this I know that if I click on my logo I will go to a black slide or other known jump. Maybe the logo is 1″ square, yet the box I put over it may be 1-1/2″ square.

      Hope this helps
