If I understand the above, I can use the Activation Troubleshooter to activate a Win10 installation on a replacement hard drive on the same computer. Out of curiosity how does the Activation Troubleshooter determine I am using the same computer if the system hard drive is being replaced and I am not inputting a product key?

I have concluded I have a bad hard drive. Seagate’s SMART test produced a “fail.” So the queston becomes: how do I reinstall Win10 on a new hard drive? To reiterate, I installed Win10 as an update from Win7. Is my best bet cloning the bad drive? Or can I simply use a Win10 install disk and use my Win7 key?

According to Event Viewer, just before the automatic reboot I receive Event ID 51. “An error detected in deviceHarddisk 0 DRO during a paging operation.” Is this illuminating?

I disabled automatic restart as suggested above and received this BSOD error: kernel data inpage error. What next? I Googled the error, but what I found wasn’t helpful, e.g Bootrec /fixmbr and /fixboot. I also did Bootrec /scanos, which pointed to my old Win7 OS. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, so I did the reinstall outlined above, and now my Win10 system continually reboots. Each time the system boots up it remains stable for a few minutes, but after a few minutes of inactivity it reboots. The rebooting does not occur while I am actually using Win10, but only when it is idle. I set Windows Update to restart only after warning me. Sleep is off. Any further ideas or suggestions? Could it be a hardware problem, e.g. bad hard drive or BIOS? I am stymied.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I did that as well. It came up with no errors.

Maybe I should restate the issue: Chrome is in position 1 (WinKey+1) on the Taskbar. Previously, in Windows 8 when I opened Chrome a new icon did not appear on the Taskbar and the original icon in position 1 related to the open Chrome window. Now in Windows 10 when I open a Chrome Window a new icon appears at the far end of the Taskbar and the original icon in position 1 acts to open a new Chrome window.

I appreciate the reply, but the problem remains unsolved. My startup option is certain set specific pages. No extension controls startup at least as far as I can detect. My Chrome version is current. Any other ideas or suggestions?

I took a look at Event Viewer and discovered VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) Event ID 12340. What can I do with this information? I Googled it but found nothing that seems to pertain to my situation.

Fixed!. I changed the zoom to 75%, and my outgoing emails are fine again. I have no idea how the zoom was changed. I’m pretty darn sure I didn’t do it: it’s not a feature I ever touched before. But in any event, thank you very much.

I’m sorry what I should have said is this: any additional text in the reply or forward is normal size, but the original small font text remains the same.

See if font is small when forwarding or replying to emails.

No the font is normal when replying to or forwarding a small font email. What does that tell you?

No, it was built by Micro Express about a year and a half ago.

As best I can determine, print manager does not appear in the task-bar after booting. Any other suggestions?

    • in reply to: HP Laserjet 1200 prints page at startup #1341049

Thank you for the response. I tried disabling all my startup programs as you suggested, but still the one page printed. I omitted to mention that the one page prints minutes after my system has booted up, so the print command is on some sort of delay. Any other suggestions?
