AskWoody LoungerWhen in safe mode, can you uninstall the display driver from Device Manager? Perhaps after a reboot you will have the opportunity to install an appropriate driver.

AskWoody LoungerDo you have active desktop enabled? It sounds like the student changed the background to a bitmap, but Active Desktop overwrites it with a JPG. OR
The student changed the background to a JPG, but Active Desktop isn’t enabled with the default profile, so your regular BMP ‘covers’ it up.Try changing Active Desktop briefly to see if the background changes. You could also try looking for a file called Internet Explorer Wallpaper.
