I need some help. The updating process went wrong asking to close some unspecified files. I Cannot proceed and the icon on my desktop is not shown any more. I cannot delete/uninstall the app as it is not listed at Win 10 pro applications list.

I have tried to uninstall with 3rd app (Revo Uninstaller) but it is not listed either…I tried reinstalling I get the same request: “close open files”.

Thanks for your prompt answer….your suggestion was done already before …but useless…each shift to Latin character or to a sign and than returning to Hebrew yield not the style configured font…it drives me crazy

Set the following to a DWORD value of 0 on the server:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled
Then restart your print spooler (or just restart the computer)
See if that fixes your issue?

could not find in my registry under “Print” the “\RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled”

      Hi

I have had the same experience. ” I found that the program did not play
nicely in the background. My experience was that it was a CPU hog grabbing up to
80+% of my CPU and slowing down work I was trying to do. I have therefore
uninstalled it and will continue to rely on good practices and Malwarebytes”.

Once uninstalled win 10 2004 went back to its regular performance.

Part 6: Reliable site: obtain, download, verify software

It’s been discussed locating a reliable site. Recommended is the author or publisher site making sure you have the correct address and not a clone site….

How to make sure it is not a clone site?

    • in reply to: restart win7 needs release ip and renew command #1575466

Nope, it’ll be a software issue. If it were hardware it just wouldn’t work.

      cheers, Paul

you are probably right but I did almost everything one could imagine: resetting all with windows command lines, new driver, uninstalling completely and reinstalling – all no avail.
      I give up
      thanks a lot

What causes software corruption? If we knew that…

      cheers, Paul

Unfortunately my announcement was premature…rebooting with the old NIC needed release/renew commanding. I uninstalled the old one and i’m happy with the new tp-link pci one that works fine. It is a hardware failure.

Yes, attempt to revive the old one. The issue will be software, not hardware, as the addressing was weird when viewed with IPCONFIG and that is all software.

      cheers, Paul

Done as said. works now. now I have a spare NIC on board. I wonder what caused it.
      Thanks a lot

      Hi paul,
It should be an experiment as for now the system works fine and I won’t have any use of the new NIC if the experiment should become successful. I’ll update you. it is interesting.

    • in reply to: restart win7 needs release ip and renew command #1575385

As you have installed a new network card, the implication is the original card has some manual / corrupt settings. Go to Device Manager and un-install the old card, plug the ethernet cable into it and re-boot. Hopefully this will clear up the dodgy settings.

      cheers, Paul

To fully understand what you suggested I’d like to clarify:

The dodgy adapter is a motherboard built in one.

installing a new NIC in the express pci slot and disabling the old adapter runs now connectivity flawlessly
so, now what you suggest is to revive the old one ?

I’ll talk to the ISP people…will up date the outcome
      thanks

      updating:
ISP tech replaced the router – no avail
I inserted NIC pci-E on the motherboard and everything is working now flawlessly. thanks all
