    • in reply to: Renew Norton or… #992961

      Stuart,
I have been using Norton Internet Security for over a year now. Have not had any problems. I have heard that others are not fans of Symantec since Peter Norton is no longer associated with them.
My 2005 version came due for renewal the end of last month and I opted to get the 2006 version. As yet I have not installed it though I anticipate no problems. Previous posts have suggested that the previous version be uninstalled before trying to install the new version but somewhere I seem to have heard that Symantec now makes installation of the new version less likely to have problems. If I do run into problems when I install the new version I will certainly report that fact here.

You are correct Jefferson. The PNG format is the best for clarity in this situation. Thanks for your assistance.

This is a test to verify a Print Screen test shot. The picture has no particular significance. It was selected to measure the size and the ability to post here.

Jezza, you are correct in your assessment. As you noted there are limitations using this procedure. It is rather simple to do though and for some uses it will suffice. For example if someone just wants to show the settings used when trying to describe a problem the color detail of the switches may not be important. The size of the file using the .GIF format is smaller than some other formats and hence is probably more acceptable on this forum.
Thanks to the other respondents for showing the comparative features of the various options. There is no doubt that more detail and finer definition can be obtained and may be desirable for some applications.
      Best regards to all,

Thanks Jezza for your reply. And thanks to you again Skitterbug for your help.
I will probably try a couple of other tests soon to ‘push the envelope’ and see how other screen captures display.

Thanks Al for your help. It will take a while for me to work through all of this and get things working smoothly. I wish I had a magic wand that could be waved to dispel all the stumbling blocks. Your assistance is truly appreciated.
Will let you know of progress as it occurs.

Thanks Dave and Francoisl for your replies.
I will keep trying to get something that can be used as an attachment. I got the Print Screen shot and copied it to Paint. From there I put it on the Desktop so it would be readily available. Next, I opened up Picasa2 as a photo editor. So far I have not been able to import the file from the desktop into Picasa2. Despite the fact that a .gif was appended to the file. Apparently Picasa2 does not recognize it as a photo — or a picture for editing and will not import it. Also tried but could not get the Print Screen shot to be imported into Picasa2 directly.
There must be one simple step that I am missing.
      Regards,
      Slim

      Try this.
Open Internet Explorer, then hold down the key and click on a link. A new Internet Explorer window will open up. Adjust the size and location of the new window to what you desire. Don’t maximize it. Then go back to the first Internet Explorer window and close it. Then close the second Internet Explorer window. Now when you start off again the Explorer window should open up to the size and location that you set.

I too have NAV 2005 and downloded the 9 Aug patches without having any problem — yet. Will report if anything unusual surfaces.

This is the technique (removing the old hard drive and slaving it temporarily in the new system) that I used when I got a new machine about 6 months age. It worked just fine. The data I selected was transferred to the new hard drive with no difficulty.

      Bob,
Today is Friday. Did Verizon come through for you?
Would you let us know what your Upload and Download speeds were before the upgrade and what they are after the improvement.
