For those who don’t get Firetrust’s emails and anyone else who might be interested. Firetrust has a “new” version available on their website, free to existing users: Upgrade MailWasher Pro | Firetrust Ltd.

Having said that, they’re also working on a complete “overhaul” of the product and have a demo video up on YouTube at: YouTube – MailWasher re-write – progress so far.

And finally, there’s a Q&A on this new version at: New MailWasher | Firetrust Ltd.

I have used Mailwasher for quite some time now and have found it to be solid and reliable.
You get to preview e-mail and delete spam or other trash before you have to download it to your machine.
I would suggest you give it a try. You’ll like it.
      Best regards,

      Dave,
Thanks for your response. I did find this information using your direction. Much appreciated.
Now I have to see if I can get the Benign program working again.

This is additional information that I found on Registry Cleaners. There is no indication that I could see just who conducted the evaluations and under what conditions. It may provide further insight into this discussion.
See this link Registry Cleaner Guide

      Dear John,
Thanks for your reply. I have not yet decided whether I will become a user of this program but your input is appreciated. Joe seems to think most of the Registry cleaners do little if anything to assist in running faster or smoother. The fact that you had no problems with the program is encouraging.
      Best regards,

      Dear Jack,
You have certainly given a good review of the Uniblue Registry Booster program.
Have you been able to notice any improvement in speed as a result of using the program??
The improvement in speed seems to be one of the selling points touted by the seller and like many folks these days I could use an improvememt in speed.
      Best regards,
      Slim

      Dear Al,
See Joe’s remarks. I think I will leave well enough alone for the time being. If you hear of any new information on this subject I would be glad to hear from you.
      Best regards,
      Slim

Thanks for your comments Joe. I too have not had a (known) problem with the registry but the scan that was done showed something like 554 errors or defects in the registry that should be corrected. The promise seemed to be that it would speed up the system. The program may not cause harm but it appears that you think it would be wise to leave well enough alone. I appreciate your response.

      Dear Doc,
Sounds like an excellent system for maintaining a record of downloads. I will try to emulate it.

Thanks Doc. I’ll hang loose for a while to see if a response to my query on the other forum will prove productive.
The trouble with re-install is that the program was downloaded from the Firetrust web site and I do not have a separate original disc. Perhaps they will provide another install upon request.
      Sincerely,
      Slim

      Dear Doc,
Yes I am a registered member of that forum. I have posted a request for help there. However, I have gone through the trouble shooting procedures posted and all to no avail. I suspect there is something rather simple that occured that caused this program to cease scanning incoming e-mail. I just haven’t been able to put my finger on it. If you can provide any assistance I would appreciate it greatly.
      Sincerely,
      Slim

    • in reply to: Pop-up problem (Win XP w/SP2) #1035071

      Mark, you are a genius.
First, you were correct that it was PSAPI.DLL that was in the pop-up. My error.
Second, I did as you suggested and used msconfig.exe and unchecked the file MotiveSB in Startup. When I rebooted the pop-up did not appear. It seems the problem is fixed.
Many thanks for your assistance. It is very much appreciated.

      With best regards,
      Slim
