after a bit more digging, I found a formula like this that seems to work, too:

      =SUMPRODUCT(–($A$4:$A$26>=$J$35),–($A$4:$A$26<=$K$35),B4:B26)

by removing the b4:26 portion, the formula counts the number of occurances as well.

I'll play around with yours this afternoon or tomorrow.

      Thanks again Hans!

      Thank you so much.

Your knowledge of Excel never ceases to amaze me…

Hans, thanks. In my database, I have the low-high in the same cell, though. Would I have to use something like index or offset? I could always split the column in 2 making one low and the other high but I have my Certificate of Analysis form calling on the low-high cell. I’d could change that formula to include cell&”-“&cell, I suppose.

Just looking for a cleaner way, if possible.

Photostory? I have never heard of it.

I ended up running the powerpoint presentation on my laptop with the wedding march playing in the background thru windows media player. Worked for the show. I also dumped the presentation to a PDF file using CutePDFWriter as hand outs on CD. For the short term, it worked. I’d like to make something a bit more professional though in the future.

      Thanks everyone for your tips.

Thanks, I’m not at all familiar with Producer. I’ll have to check it out. Sounds interesting.

I made a test PDF from Powerpoint. All my slides are landscape. The first page in the PDF output is still landscape but rotated 90 degrees relative to the rest. I used CutePDF writer to create the test. Other than this oddity, I think I’ll use PDF this time but will certainly look at Producer down the road.

      Hey, thanks, that was quick.

I thought about the PDF route after I hit “post it”.

    • in reply to: Waste Report charting (2002) #1046462

Ok, I think I have figured a few things out.

In my waste report for product “abc” i have the following:
Column a – date of manufacture
      Column b – input quantity
Column c – output of good material
      Column d – the difference
Column e- the % waste for that run

From this data, I then have a dynamic chart that updates itself as new coating runs are added.

Way off screen, i have a column with the following formula =if(year(a4)=2006,weeknum(a4,2),””) and in the column next to it a similar formula to give the corresponding waste quantity. In the next 2 columns, I have similar formula spitting out 2007 data. from this I will create another dynamic chart.

While looking at the 2006 data, I noticed week 40 had 2 coating runs that week.

I am trying to figure out a formula that will combine these quanities for that week.
The only thing that I have come up with is: =IF(YEAR($A4)=2006,IF($P4=$P3,D3+D4,D4),””)

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hans, I was thinking along a similar line.

      Zeddy,
Different products have their own tabs (sheets)
      Same workbook
Entries are by date in rows.

Ok, I don’t know what happened to my reply from last week but to answer your question…

Yes, any time I close any folder (WE was just an example) I get a new instance of IE that opens. It does not open to the home page.

After your previous suggestion, that’s kind of what I had in mind just haven’t had time to visualize it.

      Thanks again.

Thanks Hans, There are definitely times where I just check 1 or 2. Standard Operating procedures calls for 4 though. There may a rare occasion where I would do more.

Another option is to scroll down to the undesirable entries and just hit the “delete” key.

      Sorry, I’m running xp pro.

    • in reply to: Troublesome toolbars (2000) #954621

The toolbars that normally show are indeed the reviewing, revision, web, and web tools. Also, I normally keep my ruler turned on and when I get some of these other toolbars presenting themselves, my ruler gets turned off.

      Any ideas?
