As a temporary measure I put files in the Public Folder. I still cannot open the files – I can navigate to file location, see the files, but when I click on the files (and it opens in the correct program – in this case Excel)I get the following error:

      Windows cannot find
‘c:UsersPublicDocumentsTechFormsfile.xls.’ Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

      I am using Office 2007

Don’t want to use the public folder. This folder is part of a cloud backup and I only want to share this folder.

The answer to that would be – uh – NO!! Doah, I guess I need to read everything available to me when I’m looking for a link. Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry the yellow hi-ligthing of the cells did come across on the download. Should have put cell references anyway. Here they are.
In Tab 2, Cell C3 is the cell that I want populated automatically, by using the date in C2. Find that date in Tab 1 (in this case it appears in C3) and return the figure in the cell that is 10 rows below (cell C13). I have also sent an updated sheet.

Thanks that worked great, except had to change mid value to “.value,5,2” – thanks again for your help.

I have another set of data where the date field is in the form of “YYYYMMDD” and it is pure text. How can I convert to an actual date?

Outstanding, replacing CST worked perfectly thanks for the help – wasn’t looking forward to editing each record manually.

Thank you for your help – I will stick with the peer-to-peer and yes the newest machine is windows 7 and is wired. Can I hide the individual pc from the other machines like I could in NT?

Yes I can, for instance if I launch Excel I can search the My Documents folder to locate and spreadsheet – and I can open the file.

I have a program that was written by a person that I no longer have access to, and I have a problem with the code on our website. There are two files: customers.dbf and customeremails.dbf. I need to open customers.dbf in the form customer~#dbf. How do I differentiate between the two files? Thanks,

Thanks for your help. I was able to figure out the format – since the file I was trying to access was second on the list, I needed to use custom~2#DBF to identify the file, and it worked. Thanks again,

    • in reply to: IF THEN in Excel 2007 Formula #1170196

There must be something you haven’t told us – the setup you described in the first post should do what you want.
Could you attach a stripped down copy of the workbook?

Thanks for the help – but I just changed the formula to use the ISBLANK option at the beginning and now it returns nothing is the drop down cell is empty.

      =IF(ISBLANK(E53),” “,(IF(E53=”Tune Up”,(119+(G53*11.49)),IF(E53=”Double Shift”,(139+(G53*13.49)),IF(E53=”Major Production”,(179+(G53*17.49))))))+K53)

Your formula is structured correctly and returns the correct values. An empty cell or a value other than the others you test for return a 0, Tune Up returns a 1, Double Shift returns a 2, and Major Production returns a 3.

What do you mean with “Excel is returning the value of the first IF/Then if the cell is empty.”? What value is being returned?

When I highlight the cell with the drop down list and delete the entry the computed value goes to 1, not zero. And when I copy the formula to subsequent rows, it lists 1 not 0 as the result and the field containing the drop down list is empty.

Thanks Hans, I was doing this but was using too small of number on the field length – thanks again
