Ask your friend to look at her/his event logs by going to start | run and typing eventvwr.msc
Post both source and ID here for related-type items.
Also have your friend go again to start | run and type sfc /scannow (system file checker) to replace corrupt system files.

This is not for windows 95 – but perhaps you can find similiar options in your OS.
I do not have a 95 computer on my network.

Go to start | run and type regedit and go to

      HKEY_CURRENT_ USERSoftwareMicrosoftSystem CertificatesMyCertificates

and delete all keys listed in right pane.

Back up your registry before making any of the above changes.
(To backup registry click on my computer from regedit then select file | export and save to a backup directory.)

From Internet Explorer go to Tools | internet options | content |certificates | personal
      remove certificates from here.

      Reboot – now test OE.

If you publish your web from within frontpage to mywebs (it is considered a local web) then this would be your base copy that would compare with the web copy. In that capacity FP would only have to compare edited/new pages then send the changed ones. I have only used ‘my webs’ once for a web site – and it did compare My Websmywebsite with the remote website. It only uploaded new or edited pages. Now I only use IIS because it simplifies the process for me (and I have also switched to Studio MX and GoLive.)

    • in reply to: IIS reading suggestions #655858

      I would suggest:

Microsoft Windows 2000 and IIS 5.0 Administrator’s Pocket Consultant
      ISBN: 073561024X

      IIS Security
      ISBN: 0072224398

      Administering IIS (5)
      ISBN: 0072123281

IIS 5 On Site: A Guide to Planning, Deploying, Configuring, and Troubleshooting IIS 5
      ISBN: 1576107698

IIS is not very difficult to learn. Your main interest should be in securing the website – MSDN/Technet/and Microsoft sites have very good information too.

    • in reply to: Installed programs not listed in Add/Remove (XP SP1) #655857

It is not located in Programs | WordPerfect Office 2002 | Set-up and Notes | Corel uninstaller?
Also on the corel CD the uninstaller is in Coreluninst32.exe

    • in reply to: Moving a site to a new computer (all) #655855

Save a local copy to: C:Documents and SettingsyourUserNameMy DocumentsMy Webs
You publish your entire web (from within FP) to your local My Webs folder – then you should be able to configure from Tools | options | Publish
click ‘changed pages only’ and ‘determine changes by comparing source and destination webs’

    • in reply to: Why does WordXP constantly crash? (XP SP2) #655824

This must be so frustrating for you – I hope that this will help!

      Do a search for:
      *.tmp
      ~$*.*
      Delete all

      then try this:
go to Start | run | browse

next browse to the directory that winword.exe is located in. My directory is different because I did an administrative install.
      Example path:
“C:Program FilesOffice XPOffice10WINWORD.EXE” add the /a switch to the path (while still in ‘open’ dialog.
      “C:Program FilesOffice XPOffice10WINWORD.EXE” /a
      Then click OK
      Do you still crash?

    • in reply to: Error on closing Word (Office XP, SP-2) #655663

You should not experience any loss with a detect & repair but you should probably back up anyway.
From within Word XP go to | tools | templates & addins | organizer
from here you will be able to see what addins/macros are in which template. Just open the template and select save as (to a backup file)
