When you go to start | run and type dxdiag – under display tab take tests – any errors?

From control panel – Display | settings | Advanced | Do you have an option to turn deselect “write combining” – if so deselect it.
From the TNT2 64 tab select ‘additional Properties’ and on the OpenGL tab
deselect all and save it as ‘off’ then apply it

What video card do you have and what driver version/date?
      You can download Belarc
Also check your power options in control panel – what are your current settings – HDD = never/standby = never/ hibernate = never?

    • in reply to: ‘Close’ dialogs corrupted? #665897

      1. Update your video driver
      2. Go to display properties | appearance – active title bar (change the font from tahoma to something else.)
      3. Download TweakUI to repair your fonts.

Try viewing with your profile path (make sure that you have full path view in explorer) –
C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files then append Content.IE5 to the end of this path.
C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files Content.IE5
Are you able to copy from any of the folders? (such as 0HQZG9EF)

I guess I missed page 2 (and thought page 1 was the end!) I am leaving this here –

      I am still thinking…
Corel Draw apps, MS Paint, and MS WordPad are the problem? So you are trying to save the files as .bmp. .rtf and what other file extensions?

      OK try this:
Contol panel | system | hardware | Device Manager Go to Imaging devices – and update driver. Select ‘Install from a specific location’ – and “I will choose the driver to install’ – Now you should have the choice of the Microsoft driver or the Umax driver – select the Umax and browse to the location where you have downloaded the driver from Umax.

You could try a possible resolution in this order:
      1. Go to start | run
windows 2000/XP: and type sfc /scannow (system file checker to replace bad system files – it may be a bad Oleaut32.dll
      windows 98: and type sfc
2, Next go to Windows update site and update your OS
      3. Now try the maint. mode repair again from control panel.
Did you run setup from disk 2 also? If so try inserting disk 2 – office tools | Office assistant and opt to ‘run all from my computer’

You are on a standalone 2000 machine? Try logging in as local administrator and see if that makes any difference? Also another link: http://www.scanner-drivers.com/drivers/60/60296.htm%5B/url%5D

    • in reply to: ‘Close’ dialogs corrupted? #665120

      1. Run SFC with the /scannow switch.
      2. Make sure that your virus definitions are up to date and run a full scan.
What was fhe name of the software that you loaded?

Maybe try the UK site for the driver VistaScan 355u
Install it under an account that has administrative rights.

You can delete TVDebug.log via safe mode. It is a log that ZA tech support would only use for debugging True Vector probs.
