“I use both Firefox and Pale Moon.

My problem with palemoon is that it will not accept AdBlockPlus as they claim it is not safe. I have to switch to AdBlock Latitude to shield from numerous ads”.
      END QUOTE ———————-

REPLY @JC: I used AdBlocker+ in the past,
      but then switched
      to:
      ublock-origin
in both FF and PaleMoon. Lighter and better.

      Just try it and see!…

      My config:
      – Pale Moon 25.8.0 (my main browser, love it!) and FF 41 (sometimes…)
      – Ubuntu Linux 12.04 (32-bit)
      – Samsung Tablet Galaxy Tab3 / Android 4.2.2

      @chivracq:
Why not email the iMacros author,
and ask/plead to have a Palemoon version?

FEBE and many other addon authors
      have gladly made PM versions,
      as the PM base grows.
      (apparently, it’s a minor task to do a PM-specific version…).
      In response to:
“Mitigating factor, only related to one specific Add-on (I heavily rely on…):
I’m a Web-Automation Specialist (using iMacros), and since some big Changes in FF29/30/31, I have to stick to an older Version of iMacros (v8.8.2, very stable, that’s not the Pb, but newer Versions simply don’t work at all anymore on PM and every time some new interesting Features are added to that iMacros Add-on, I have to decompile it and add myself the new Changes, which is a bit cumbersome, and always a bit risky…!”

      +++1 for PM!

Glad I switched to Pale Moon,

      Stable, fast
and all my critical FF addons
      run fine in PM.

I still keep my FF updated,
      (as a backup browser option),
but I almost never use FF anymore.

My Pwd. Mgr. on my Tablet,
      is:
      – “SafeInCloud” 4.8 stars overall
      at Google Play Store: https://goo.gl/jnXeb

and read the user comments there.

At the end, bought the PRO version
      for extra interesting features.

It has a cut & paste PWD feature,
just like the K2D app, mentioned above.

      I believe you can import
      your existing KeePass format pwds.

      On my desktop PC
      I use LastPass.
      Brilliant!

I wish I could use LastPass on my Android tablet.
      Tried it, but had problems
      with the LP Tablet version…

Anybody else wants to share their experience
with “SafeinCloud” and “LastPass” on Android?

    • in reply to: Firefox links slow or don’t connect #1506718

      Hi JWoods from Oregon,

      Yes !

      I also changed
      from: AdBlock+ (after many years)
      to: uBLOCK ORIGIN

      As you said,
uBLOCK is much lighter (= faster browsing in Firefox & Palemoon).

But I use the version called:
      uBLOCK ORIGIN (not simply “uBLOCK”).

      Apparently the “ORIGIN” version
(maintained by the first author of the addon),
is much better than the forked version (simply called: “uBLOCK”).

You can read the comments for either version,
      on the Mozilla Addons site:
      https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?src=ss

So, what are you afraid of, Cyclops?

      Oh, yeah!

      I understand…a Cyclops has only 1 eye,
so you miss the depth of understanding
new, useful alternative -OR- complementary tools…

I tried Linux (ubuntu) in my case,
      and never looked back.

So, thanks for this series, Windows Secrets.
      Keep ’em coming…
      Good move!

      sorry, Rick… 🙂
Yes, I meant to respond to “Heyitstrick'” (comment #4).

      All is well, Rick.

    • in reply to: An introduction to Linux for Windows users #1491128

      George,

The fact that you are ONLY interested
      in MS Windows,
      does not preclude “other people”
      having other OS interests.

      And some are important,
in case you haven’t looked around lately.
      LINUX, OSX, Android…

The world is NOT an MS monopoly game anymore…

    • in reply to: An introduction to Linux for Windows users #1491108

      Heyitstrick (above, comment #4), says:
…”but more and more I’m seeing columnists and articles on this site essentially taking pot shots at Microsoft all the time…”.

      Heyitstrick:
      – have you asked yourself…why?

I salute WS for opening up to LINUX
as a mature, working alternative to MS’ problematic OS.

At our office we switched to Linux,
      and never looked back.

      If we had more money,
we could have switched to MAC OSX,
      (by itself, a Linux-derivative OS!).

So, no more botched MS Windows monthly updates and nightmares.
      A time sink-hole…

      In this last 14 months
      we are simply more productive.
      And I truly mean that.

      Linux just works!
Why don’t you just try Linux, Heyitstrick?

      WS staff:
looking forward to more useful Linux articles, OS and program reviews, etc.

    • in reply to: Can old Apple iPOD Classic be connected to Android tablet? #1486973

      Thank you, Craig!

      Your 2 suggestions:

      1) the link:
      http://darrenyates.com.au/2008/09/10-free-itunes-alternatives-for-linux/268
gives me a “404 – Page not Found”.

      2) I use Wine for other smaller Windows progs,
      (which have no Linux equivalent).
      They work ok under Wine.

      But to install Windows
and ITunes via Wine in Linux,
(just to d/l podcasts to an old iPod),
would be a huge task in my simpler case.

So, my main, mystery question remains:

      — Is there any small iPod-like music player device
      which I can connect to
      (ie: is “compatible with”)
my Android Samsung Galaxy Tab3 TABLET ?
      (10.1″ screen – Android 4.2.2)

I can now listen to Podcasts
      on the the Tablet itself,
but it’s too big to carry around
      for just listening to audio…
the old iPod was tiny in size!.

      Ideally,
if I could connect the old iPod (or any other player device)
      to the Android Tablet,
      transfer the MP3 files f/Tablet to iPod…
      that’d be great!

But how can I do that?…
Any other audio player devices that connect to Android Tablets, out there?

      +++1 for PALEMOON browser –
      a fast, stable Firefox clone,
(but w/o the new, unwanted features of FF Australis).

      Love it!
Stable, secure and all my previous Firefox addons
work without a hitch in PALEMOON.

      I’m using the PM4LINUX version
      under Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Try it and tell us later…
      (Win or Linux versions):

    • in reply to: Firefox version 29.0: User interface change #1457212

      Now using PaleMoon
      as my primary browser,
(under Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS – 32 bit).

Using FF 29 as secondary browser only, (less and less).

      PaleMoon browser
is faster & more stable than my FF29…
      love it!

      btw: ALL my FF extensions
      work just fine
      in the PaleMoon browser…

    • good points, ec5772
      – what you say makes perfect sense.

      I’m only using WINE
      for non-critical Win pgms (calculators,etc),
      w/o Linux equivalents.

      Thanks again for your time!.

    • Apparently, Remastersys
no longer an available backup solution.

      It has been removed
      by its author – see:
      http://www.remastersys.com/

      I’m trying out, instead:
      Redo Backup
      http://redobackup.org/

Redo Backup seems to be dead-simple to use
as an HD image backup solution…

And that’s what I need, really.

      What I wonder is:

      if my Motherboard dies
and I need to restore the image
      (which I made previously),
      to a completely new PC,
will the HD image Restore work ok?
      (I know, an inocent question…).

    • Thank you
for the easy, step X step, Rick!

      That will help…
