Other than a hardware firewall in our router the Windows Firewall is the only one. The hardware firewall is not a problem as someone else here is able to use IM and I was able to with my old computer. It appears that I stay connected until I go to send a message. Then when the message box opens I’m disconnected and have to sign in again. It then works okay while I’m messenging.

Thanks for the suggestion. The Windows Firewall is enabled, but Windows Messenger is already set as one of the exceptions. Guess I’ll have to keep searching.

I’ve checked that but they all appear to be timed events without the “All Day” box checked.

    • in reply to: Object Changes Size (2000 SR1a) #660595

Thanks. That appears to have worked. I resized it in another application, saved the new file and inserted it. It was still a little big, but it did not shrink when I closed and reopened the document. I then resized it inside Word a little, closed and reopened the document and it appears to be holding the size. Thanks again.

I have removed the object and re-embedded it (Insert>Picture>From File). It still does the same thing. I do not have any macros running. Thanks.

Thanks. After my initial post I did find another .pst file hanging around. I wound up having to create a new profile, but I was able to remove that file from the folder list.

Just came across this post. You may have already made a decision. If not, I’ve been using a piece of shareware called Sound Recorder and Editor (http://www.polderbits.com[/url%5D). I think it is free for a couple of weeks and then there is a very small fee ($12? maybe). Anyway, I used several pieces of software a while back and none could beat this one. It’s straight forward, simple, and most importantly it works.

You might take a look at PaperPort by ScanSoft (http://www.scansoft.com). I’ve used for several years and really like it. You can scan into it or “print” to it from other applications. You then stack each page from different sources into one file. Users can install a free viewer utility to view/print files. This may all seem more confusing than it is, but it might be worth a look.

Thanks. I checked, but the Filter is off.

Thanks. I agree. What do you suggest as the best way to download or save the files from my web server to my local machine?

Thanks! That seems to be working great!

    • in reply to: Page Down (2000 SR1a) #553572

I tried that and it works. My spreadsheet is actually formatted as follows: I have header rows on rows 1 and 2. My data starts on row 3 and goes through row 23. If I select A3 through R23 (R is actually the last column) and choose selection, I get a zoom rate of 92%. Putting my cursor in A3 and hitting page down I go to A28 instead of A24.
