Thanks, Andrew. That should work. He could probably use the VBA that comes with Office rather than installing something new, but the principle is the same.

And thank you, Steve. That helped.

Hans, please see comments above (I wasn’t sure if “Reply to Post” would send both of you an update).–Sarah

Thank you, Hans and Brent. I tried Hans’ solution first and it worked beautifully! I did encounter a snag when my data in column B Department had a combination of the search words. I will attach a revised spreadsheet for your review. Perhaps you can advise on how to adjust the formula? The calculation works when the ranges are through row 13, but once past that the #VALUE result appears. I tried to evaluate the formula but can’t figure out where the error occurs. Row 13 is the start of the combined criteria “CCS, C&C.” So it’s checking that row but then stops. Thanks again!

I cannot get the OFFSET function to do exactly what I want. In simplest form I am trying to do this. Let’s say the values Name, 1, and 2 are sitting in cells C1, C2, and C3, respectively. I want those cells to populate in cells A1-A3 with a single formula in cell A1. Is using OFFSET my best option?

I’m experiencing the same problem. Thought I’d bump this up and see if anyone’s found a solution in the last year. Thanks.

    • in reply to: Text Box Distortion Upon Deletion of Rows (2000) #667513

Thanks, but this does not adjust the underlying cell’s/row’s height from what I can tell. And you can only have one or the other (Automatic Size -or- Move and Size with Cells). I really want the rest of the rows to “move” down to accomodate the larger text box. I guess I might look at a scroll bar next that will print the entire contents.

Can anyone extend this concept going the other way ? If a text box’s contents would cause it to increase in height (if that’s possible), how can I force the row height to increase? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Chaunce. I can rest easy this weekend!

Thanks, Steve! That jump-started my thought process. Now, what if I wanted to add all of the values I find and average both Sarah’s and Woody’s together?

I have this formula, but it’s taking the average of the averages.
      =((SUMIF(A:A,”Sarah”,B:/COUNTIF(A:A,”Sarah”))+(SUMIF(A:A,”Woody”,B:/COUNTIF(A:A,”Woody”)))/2

Came upon method #2 in this KB article. Seems to solve my problem. Thanks for your suggestions!

I have both drives mapped. Two other teams will use the document. I think everyone on the team is mapped.

    • in reply to: Text file’s font too small (Any, or XP) #649289

Essentially the information is “print to disk” information. It’s not so much that the font size is an issue (as the reply implies that *.txt files have no font), but if the whole page could be printed to “fit to page” like one can in Excel, the formatting would (in theory) line up.

We have an application called Monarch that can take “print to file,” report-looking info and turn it into Excel or a CSV. The best solution I’ve been able to come up with is to use Monarch to scrape what I need and then VBA to format the output.
