What possibilities will there be for doing a clean install of Windows 10?

I have Win 8.1 (upgraded from Win 8, upgraded from Win 7) and when I recently had a problem with other software (specifically, trying to upgrade to the latest iTunes) I encountered error messages saying that there were files missing from Windows (or something to that effect).

I’m hoping that the upgrade to Windows 10 will be enough to iron out the problem, but if not, then I’ll want to do a clean install. What could I expect in this regard?

The GWX (Get Windows 10) app being discussed says 3GB.

Thanks for that. I clearly wasn’t reading the small print.

It’s very useful to know, as I’m also advising a couple of not very tech-savvy friends who share their connection and are penny-pinching to an extreme when it comes to bandwidth – and are regularly terrified by Windows Update for that reason!

(I’ve now installed NetWorx on both their computers so that they can see exactly how they each are using their bandwidth, which has greatly reduced their anxieties.)

One reason to delay the download could be the date it’s due to happen – just a couple of days before month end. If you have a monthly data cap (as I do) and it’s nearly used up it might be wise to check first whether it can still accommodate what is likely to be a pretty large download.

So there’s the question in my mind: Do we know what size that Windows 10 download will be?

Problem solved. Actually it turns out there is no problem. I had another look at that earlier thread and discovered that this is only a display problem; it doesn’t affect the printed document or conversion to pdf. Thank goodness!

      And thanks for your response.
