To add on to Steve’s good advice, and if you are working with Excel 2010, you can also use a brand new function called: Aggregate.

The Excel AGGREGATE function returns an aggregate in a list or database. The function can apply different aggregate calculations to a list or database with the option to specify whether hidden rows, error values and/or any nested Subtotal or Aggregate functions are ignored. To begin with, AGGREGATE has 19 functions, compared to SUBTOTAL’s 11. Another advantage is that AGGREGATE can also ignore other things such as errors and nested SUBTOTAL functions in addition to the hidden data.

      Thanks Steve.

This does select the entire row 🙂
But I was actually wanting it to select the cells that make up the record. IE: The selection must not extend out of the lists width. The reason for asking is that I also would like the record highlighted before it gets copied to another sheet.

      Cheers!

Tx for the code Jan Karel.

This is selecting cells in the A column. Is it possible to have the records rows selected? (Just asking 🙂 )

      Appreciate the help.

      Hi,

Is there a way to convert references in selected formulas/functions on a spreadsheet from relative refs to absolute refs? F4 works to cycle through the ref styles, but only for the active cell. I want to select multiple formulas and have all the refs in the formula convert to absolute.

      Any help will be appreciated.
