Sudo, I had 2 disks for Win 7 Pro, both 64 bit and both with SP1. I don’t know why the first repair install didn’t solve the problem, but when I first tried the second repair install I just used the first of the 2 disks that came to hand and that one gave me various error messages so I binned it. The second disk did the trick.

I have performed repair installs in the past and never had any problems before.

      Best regards, Roy

Sudo, I solved the problem by performing a Non Destructive Reinstall of Win 7 with SP1. In doing so I knew I would have to download and reinstall over 250 Windows Updates, and the updates were successfully installed. I then ran sfc /scannow, and no integrity violations were found.

I hope this solution helps others.

BruceR, would you please explain the difference between the Current Build and Insider Preview.

      Thanks and regards, Roy

    • in reply to: ISO File For Build 15058 #1593681

I downloaded the .iso file for Win 10 Pro x 64, Build 15058, the Build I already had installed, edited the security pane, and then, whilst I was running Win 10, double clicked the .iso file and ran Setup.exe.I chose to keep my programs and personal files, and was pleasantly surprised at the speed of completion of the setup process. I then checked for updates and completed the update to Insider Preview Build 15061 without any problems.(I did not get the “some update files aren’t signed correctly” error.)

I did not need to create a DVD from the .iso file.

BruceR, I don’t understand what you are saying. The final release of Win 10 isn’t available yet, so surely all the threads on this Win 10 forum relate to Insider Preview Builds? Many actually specifically refer to Insider Preview versions.

      Did I misunderstand you?

Joe, I don’t have access to an external device with the build, or to a machine with the same build. Can I chat to a Microsoft rep about the problem, and if so how?

    • in reply to: Problem updating to Build 15060 #1593616

Yes, the date and time are correct.

    • in reply to: Problem updating to Build 15060 #1593612

Joe, I ran the troubleshooter and then went back to Windows Update, but got the same message as in my opening post, except for referring to build 15061.

Do you have any other ideas?

      Joe-Build 15058

Thanks Rick but I wouldn’t know which effects to disable, so I think I’d better leave things as they are.

Satrow, thanks. I followed your advice and now have the latest Active X version of Flash.

    • in reply to: Enabling Aero Glass #1593580

Rick, thanks but there wasn’t an Enable transparent glass checkbox on my system. I solved the problem by restoring a Macrium Reflect backup image which was only a few days old.

A screenshot of my Visual Effects window is attached. Are there any checkboxes I should uncheck without affecting performance, whilst leaving enable transparent glass in place?

    • in reply to: Enabling Aero Glass #1593554

Joe, thanks . I tried to follow the steps in the link but still couldn’t enable Aero Glass. Maybe I should have said how can I make the Taskbar transparent. It was until I used Winaero Tweaker-I must have unintentionally selected an option in that program which disabled Taskbar transparency, but I can’t find an option to enable it again.

      Please advise further.

Sudo, when I booted into my Windows 10 hard disk and ran sfc /scannow no integrity violations were found and the sfc.txt file showed nothing amiss at all.
