AskWoody LoungerMay 2, 2011 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Couldn’t Update – Currently blocked by another session on this machine (97) #1277901I have tried many things to correct this situation, including changing the locking methods. Currently I have had no success. Have also gone to the effort of moving the memo field to an external table and then linking to it on the form. This appeared to work for a short period of time and then for no apparent reason the message box issue returned again. At this juncture I am tempted to use the On Error Resume Next statement. Thank you.

AskWoody LoungerYour sample helped to show the proper convention of defining strings in combination with and correct use of the & and DLookup (that was my major snag). The insert at cursor now works exactly as I had envisioned. For me, a picture is worth a thousand words. Thank you very much for your help.

AskWoody LoungerThank you for your help. Come to find out that the Function works as advertised. Errors arise when the operator (me) introduces them – improperly naming modules, etc. etc. That is a very nifty function and accomplishes what I want.

AskWoody LoungerI agree. A little training with the select and (Ctrl+C) is not that monumental of a task. Thanks for your help.

Thanks again

I even made a copy and converted the database to A2K and it will not make the changes there either. Any other ideas?
Thank you.

Thank you,

AskWoody LoungerAfter much trial and error, I was able to resolve the problem. When using the @ symbols in the message box line to get the bold text on the first line, it was necessary to make the MsgBox statement on one line with no vbCrLf included. Anything else would give me a syntax error. The second part was resolved with a Me.Undo after the MsgBox statement (which returned the record to its previous state). The msgbox statement was then changed to reflect the necessary users actions to avoid the error.
Thank you.

AskWoody LoungerThank you for the information. That is what I was looking for. What keyboard combination creates the pointer figure? The other issue I my have is incorporating it into Access 97 because that version does not have conditional formatting.
Thank you

AskWoody LoungerI will look into that. Thank you.
