The Definder updates can be daily, as they are HOT finds that need updated just like MOST AV and other protection programs.

My AV, P-Prot, sometimes updates several times a day.

I believe the ante-virus program i use provides better protection than Microsoft products. I’ve just renewed for another 365 day Aust. $37
This is bit about the program, which developed most of what Spybot had been providing and much more

      Hello Robert,
I am glad to hear that someone else has had some “problems” with the never ending “micro squish updates “(and decided to do SOMETHING) unless someone can show me that my logic or lack there of is wrong i will never apply another MS update unless there is some reason to ( like some program that i want won’t run) without it ( ex. NETFramework Stuff etc.) In my not so humble opinion if your system is working and you have a good security program or programs in my best “brooklyn-eeze” for-get a-bout it” Regards

The main reason i put an image prior to SP2 (I had patched to SP2) was Microsoft support more or less told me I needed to un-install my Office Premium 2000 and agreed with me then the SP2 lock on one of 3 Reg Entry’s (other two i had managed to gain permission on) frgaccess fragmentshell new; cocol fileshell new and ffaffa fileshell new. Meant very unlikely I’d be able to continue using the Office Suit I payed lot money for etc.

Computer runs just fine, I’m pretty confident Kaspersky does a really good job and at worst dump an image back if i had to. Given i really only want to write letters, maintain my web and not much more, i reckon will go with the setup i have, runs just as good as it did with the SP2 installed anyway…I’ll stay in the here and now i think

Hi Fred i to rely on Acronis image’s stored on external, also run Kaspersky and Mailwasher. Had problem with Vista SP2 which damaged my Office suit and then I restored back prior to the SP1. Already had Office 2000 patched to SP3 and have turned Windows update off, Windows firewall Off, Windows Mail Off, Permissions Off and computer works just fine.
Kaspersky runs a good Firewall and Malware protection, Mailwasher vets all mail downloading into computer and Memmo and Acronis is doing its thing ok.

    • in reply to: Office 2000 Updates #1189283

Microsoft put out a CD with SP1 and SP2 for Office 2000, i’ve a copy obtained from the Auckland New Zealand Microsoft Office agent, only had to pay the postage. Also a PC magazine disk had all available patches on it so if you get stuck email an address.
I run Office 2000 Premium on my Vista laptop, i fully patched it to Sp3 and though can’t run Outlook all other working fine.

I some how I got my webpage favicon to appear ok, if you go to the site, using the top menus of your browser click on the View menupage source and look at the header of any page.
You’ll find every header for each page is different. There are a number of free programs that will make headers for you site. Or visit page source and copy and paste, then make the header realistic to the content of your page.
There are many views on what you your header should or should not have in it.
Built my page using FrontPage though do not let that program process the pages, better to make a new folder at the top of your c|- AA my web or something and just save into that.
HTML-Kit is a free program you might like to check out. Also FileZilla is free open source uploader. Try a free search engine optimization Google search, that could be worth while. and you might find useful

    • in reply to: Vista Sevice Pack 2 benefits for Home prem.? #1187936

I had a problem after SP2 on my Vista as i have Office Premium 2000 installed and patched SP1,SP2 and SP3. Vista SP2 wrecked my Office install, Word wouldn’t load and in attempting repair three Reg entries blocked the process. I obtained Microsoft help # but there only resolve was to uninstall my Office 2000, (buy later version hahaha)

My answer was to put back an image made before i installed the Vista SP1, and no longer use Windows Update preferring to rely on my backups and Kaspersky Anti-Virus instead. I’d agree probably not that good answer but i like and wish to use the Office suite i payed for, which runs fine in the 2000 mode it was made to run in on my Vista

    • in reply to: MS Money 2002 can't uninstall #1187931

I use Ccleaner as well but think Revo would be your best bet. Its purpose made to remove preloaded trial Office 2007 off laptops, and should do the job, just make sure you delete the Money Reg entries at the end of the uninstall. However maybe after the attempts you’ve already made you’ll need to reinstall money so it appears in the program list. Otherwise i think Revo will do the best job
