I’d like to say i was very unhappy on occasion i attempted to use Seagate Disk Manager program as it attempted to uninstall True Home Image 2009 because apparently Acronis has taken over what had otherwise been a good disk managing program

    • in reply to: Macrium versus Acronis #1519849

A long time ago I ran into problems with heavy-handed more automated later versions after 2009 Acronis program versions, finally after purchasing Win 64 bit Lapto,p i found I could no longer use True Home Image 2009 and though had paid for two later versions dumped them, after heads-up on here moved to Macrium Free, and was very pleased with the program particularly its ability to copy/clone Hard Drive onto a new a Hard Drive which I have tucked one away for a rainy-day as backup.

I then purchased Reflect full version and am happy that its backing up ok, though was bit concerned what grandfather and grandson actually meant, and its ability to correctly backup Outlook 2007 so also purchased Outback Plus 9 which appears to handle Outlook backups very well.

    • OK, I’ve installed Windows 7 64 bit, but I think I have a problem with the Windows Update module. I think it’s corrupted or something. During downloading of Windows updates it has also downloaded an updated version of this module, and since then it takes a LOT of time for it to search for available updates, very slow.

And also, there is an update that cannot be downloaded, a cumulative security update for IE 11. Gives an “Error 80092004” message. Anyway to fix this?

I purchased a 2015 version of a Driver Update Disk, which updated quite a few drivers and some windows updates of eBay, for long time have not been happy with windows update, particularly after it locked some office 2000 registry keys that blocked adding features etc, in attempt to unlock sort windows support in turn received life time support to purchase a new office suit…errr
I know Windows Secrets supports Windows however from my side i actually wish to use Microsoft Software i paid for and certainly not leave planet earth and rent software i want to use and had ready paid for. So my first move was to turn-off and disable Windows Update, while doing my best to protect computer and therefore our shared computer community without heavy handed clandestine updates directed towards continually funding Microsoft’s coffers…
Am not sure whether you error 80092004 can or cannot be resolved by updating the drivers on your computer but might.

    • I recently purchased Win & Pro 64 bit Toshiba L650 and had to from my side replace my otherwise lover duplex Xerox C2120 as only available driver limited available functions i had otherwise enjoyed. Enter nice new Oki C531dn most welcome addition to my Office. Fine line i don’t really understand between 32 and 64 bit Win 7 & 8…
Bye bye paid version of AOMEI Backupper is not compatible with 64 bit system evfen though they state it is Windows says its isn’t and it fails to install its image.
Soon bye bye True Image Home, (versions 2009, 2011 and 2013) unreliable, likewise Windows Image, tested both with computer still booting and neither could install images made. Bye bye Paragon Backup and Recovery, bye bye Paragon Drive Copy 2014 professional, while Paragon Partition Manager 2012 stays.
Enter Macrium v5 Reflect backup program (currently only have free version installed) but certainly I fully intend purchasing there latest version asap. Love its cloning ability.
Bye bye Seagate 2 trig external drive, enter Toshiba 2 trig external…
Bye bye Kaspersky Internet Security Service (bye bye) enter Spybot S&D professional addition, which now protects my computer challenging all my online traffic though Spybots Proxy Server, am very happy with the program.
Happy chappy Windows Defender turned off, Windows Firewall turned off, Windows Update turned off while however have my trusted Microsoft Office 2000 Premium in-cased in Sp1, Sp2 and Sp3 while Microsoft kindly still managed to install Sp4 on very nice L650, i like it.

    • in reply to: Malwarebytes bites me #1479628

Having more than once paid money for Malwarebytes i was very disappointed with annual subscription, so disappointed i went straight back to using Spybot. Though I paid to use latest Spybot I ditched that and installed the older version, and though Tea-Timer is now not so aggressive am very pleased to see Spybot doing its job.
One downside Kaspersky still running a war with Spybot, well as it turns out (long version) RoboForm went to annual subscription, another theif, anyway up until yesterday had been running FireFox 3.6, which paid-for RoboForm version 6, worked fine. FireFox 3.6 was hated by hotmail and other sites, so updated FireFox a paid subscription to thief RoboForm, then Kaspersky wouldn’t install its Add-ons errr.
Ended up ditching Kaspersky, which i had been using since Adam was a Cowboy as version 2015 didn’t work in Outlook 2007, purchased AVG Internet Security and have now installed Nightly a 64 bit version of FireFox, Outlook works, Nightly and Chrome and no war going on between AVG and Spybot or with SuperAntiSpyware which i am also running.
So was the year for good bye Malwarebytes and good bye Kaspersky, very best wishes for 2015 yee all from robplum

    • in reply to: How to stop Snapdo ‘cold calling’ #1466185

I have un-installed Malwarebytes as i’d paid and they changed to annual subscription so by by, I have replaced it with the free version of Spybot, the same old and trusted program of yesteryear download free version here:
      http://www.safer-networking.org/mirrors16/
Snap do toolbar had been installed in firefox and chrome by a downloaded program

    • I run Office 2000 Premium version on my Win7 64 bit Laptop; no worries after i worked out what Windows/Microsoft update had done in in-stalling later versions of SP1 SP2 that are designed for later versions of Office.
I have been granted life time support by Microsoft following a request for download support after i worked out Windows update had changed, locked three/four Registry Keys, blocking my gaining Admin Permissions Privileges to change permissions.
Eventually using Unlocker i managed to access two of the keys.
Part old support email from me to Microsoft follows.
I have twice installed SP2 to find SP2 had corrupted my Office 2000 SP1, SP2, SP3 installation, since have restored to an earlier state using an image program, I’ve done that twice after installing SP2.
      Registry Keys: –

Eventually i managed to re-install the whole Office Premium 2000 programs and again in-cased Office 2000 files in its proper SP1 SP2 and SP3 files, only two other problems arose…You cant use Outlook 2000 and Office 2000 has missing a file first shipped with XP that allows you to convert PDF to a Word .doc, to get round that i downloaded Open Office which resolved that issue.
I paid for and like Office 2000 Premium (has FrontPage etc) and encased in its proper SP1,2 and 3 is operating within netframwork running on computer in its proper 2000 mode

Just a question for Woody. If the password manager software fails and is no longer supported, how would you be able to open any of your sites requiring passwords, since you would not know them and could not open your list of passwords from your single access password?

I mentioned in my earlier post i also use RoboForm2Go program , it is installed on USB, often as necessary I synchronize it with PC-RoboForm passwords. You can load RoboForm2Go program on any PC and log into all your stored sites/passwords leaving no trace files on public or other computer that you use it on.
The versions of RoboForm i use are no longer supported by RoboForm however they are not involved in anyway with my logins, the programs including RoboForm2Go program are stand alone and all you need.

    • in reply to: Revo Uninstaller question #1425384

Run REVO in Hunter Mode, a Green Hunter Mode Icon will replace the REVO browser, a Green Icon will appear top right of your screen.
Drag the program you want to uninstall icon onto the Hunter Mode Icon
      or
If the program you want to remove hasn’t placed an icon on your desktop, locate its exe.file in program files then drag that onto REVO Hunter Mode Icon
      or
If the program runs, drag its toolbar onto the Hunter Mode Icon
