thanks for all you help – my database is now up and running.

We would not have managed without your initial suggestions – these things are always about three layers deep!

A shame you are the other side of the pond or I would buy you a large drink of some variety!

Thanks for your trouble. Have gone through Winnt and we seem to be ok in that area – I had a look at MS knowledge base last night and found Q216900 which actually mentioned the error code I got – dont entirely understand the rest mind you but am going to sit down and study it today. We are trying to set this up on 2 pcs at first before we attempt to go live so I can mess all I want (we are creating ghost images as we sort problems out!)

      Again thanks.

Thanks for your reply. Apologies but I am lacking tech support& have been left with 1/2 the job completed! Where in the WinntFolder do I find permissions?

I wont be working with sub webs.

I am trying to set this up for is a group without many resources. I can teach the product but not set things up (bit like driving a car but not being able to put in a new gearbox). So again thanks for your help to date.

    • in reply to: IIS4 – installing ASP #529215

Further advance – It would appear that NT Option pack 4 has not installed the 2000 version of FP Extentions – have now put them on and database is no longer greyed out. Have still got problems but will start this thread again I think! Did not want to waste anyones time on this one as had answered first problem.

      Thanks

    • in reply to: IIS4 – installing ASP #529202

further advance – I have found the permissions on the properties, directories tab and script is definitely checked! Am I doing something wrong in FP? I have been publishing to PWS for practice up until now and that has been working fine – it has only been when we have been trying to set up a server?

      Any bright ideas please?

    • in reply to: IIS4 – installing ASP #529192

thanks this really is a help – I am nearly there.Have found relevant asp.dll where you said it would be hiding. However, having now opened the management console – Sorry I must seem very dense, but this is new territory – how do I enable scripts to run.

      Thanks

    • in reply to: Named Range Automatically expand #525354

Thanks for this – I see the two things I was missing – use F5 to go to the range rather than expect to see it on the list and get some data in the range before you start!

      Cheers

Thanks for this – I have tried it however I must be doing something wrong!! I have gone to “define” typed a name and entered the “incantation” into the refers to box. Though it is still there when I go back to the name dialog box it does not appear in the drop down on the toolbar or appear when I press F3 – I must be missing something vital here!

      Thanks

    • in reply to: FP2000/IIS 4 – database wont work #520051

THe server has SQl 7, IIS4 (with all the bits!) and Office 2000 loaded, plus Microsoft Exchange (I am a trainer and we use this for outlook courses – the IIS has been installed as I need to move my training from courses using Personal Web Server to a proper server).

I don’t know the answer to you question – is the above enough? If not I will try to extract the information from the person who is helping me set this up and get back to you

Thanks for taking an interest and trying to help.

      Cheers
